U,35 under
01-1:7 And God
made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above
the firmament: and it was so.
01-1:9 And God
said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered
together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
01-6:17 And,
behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all
flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under
heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
01-7:19 And the
waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were
under the whole heaven, were covered.
01-16:9 And the
angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.
01-18:4 Let a
little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:
01-18:8 And he
took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before
them; and he stood by them under the tree, and
they did eat.
01-19:8 Behold
now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring
them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto
these men do nothing; for therefore came they under
the shadow of my roof.
01-21:15 And the
water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under
one of the shrubs.
01-24:2 And
Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he
had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:
01-24:9 And the servant
put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his
master, and sware to him concerning that matter.
01-35:4 And they
gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all
their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
01-35:8 But
Deborah Rebekah’s nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called
Allonbachuth.
01-39:23 The keeper
of the prison looked not to any thing that was under
his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD
made it to prosper.
01-41:35 And let
them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in
the cities.
01-47:29 And the
time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said
unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me;
bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:
01-49:25 Even by
the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall
bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
02-6:6 Wherefore
say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out
from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I
will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out
arm, and with great judgments:
02-6:7 And I
will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know
that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
02-17:12 But Moses’
hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur
stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side;
and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
02-17:14 And the
LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it
in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek
from under heaven.
02-18:10 And Jethro
said, Blessed be the LORD, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the
Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.
02-20:4 Thou
shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that
is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is
in the water under the earth:
02-21:20 And if a
man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
02-23:5 If thou
see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under
his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.
02-24:4 And Moses
wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded
an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars,
according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
02-24:10 And they
saw the God of Israel: and there was under
his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body
of heaven in his clearness.
02-25:35 And there
shall be a knop under two branches of the
same, and a knop under two branches of the same,
and a knop under two branches of the same,
according to the six branches that proceed out of the candlestick.
02-26:19 And thou
shalt make forty sockets of silver under the
twenty boards; two sockets under one board for
his two tenons, and two sockets under another
board for his two tenons.
02-26:21 And their
forty sockets of silver; two sockets under
one board, and two sockets under another board.
02-26:25 And they
shall be eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets; two
sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.
02-26:33 And thou
shalt hang up the vail under the taches, that
thou mayest bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony: and the
vail shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy.
02-27:5 And thou
shalt put it under the compass of the altar
beneath, that the net may be even to the midst of the altar.
02-30:4 And two
golden rings shalt thou make to it under the
crown of it, by the two corners thereof, upon the two sides of it shalt thou
make it; and they shall be for places for the staves to bear it withal.
02-36:24 And forty
sockets of silver he made under the twenty
boards; two sockets under one board for his two
tenons, and two sockets under another board for
his two tenons.
02-36:26 And their
forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one
board, and two sockets under another board.
02-36:30 And there
were eight boards; and their sockets were sixteen sockets of silver, under every board two sockets.
02-37:21 And a knop
under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six
branches going out of it.
02-37:27 And he
made two rings of gold for it under the crown
thereof, by the two corners of it, upon the two sides thereof, to be places for
the staves to bear it withal.
02-38:4 And he
made for the altar a brasen grate of network under
the compass thereof beneath unto the midst of it.
03-15:10 And
whosoever toucheth any thing that was under him
shall be unclean until the even: and he that beareth any of those things
shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until
the even.
03-22:27 When a
bullock, or a sheep, or a goat, is brought forth, then it shall be seven days under the dam; and from the eighth day and thenceforth
it shall be accepted for an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
03-27:32 And
concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever
passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy
unto the LORD.
04-3:36 And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari
shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the
pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all
that serveth thereto,
04-4:28 This is
the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the
congregation: and their charge shall be under
the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
04-4:33 This is
the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their
service, in the tabernacle of the congregation, under
the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
04-6:18 And the
Nazarite shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation, and shall take the hair of the head of his
separation, and put it in the fire which is under the sacrifice of the peace offerings.
04-7:8 And four
wagons and eight oxen he gave unto the sons of Merari, according unto their
service, under the hand of Ithamar the son of
Aaron the priest.
04-16:31 And it
came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the
ground clave asunder that was under them:
04-22:27 And when
the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under
Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.
04-31:49 And they
said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are
under our charge, and there lacketh not one
man of us.
04-33:1 These are
the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of
Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses
and Aaron.
05-2:25 This day
will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that
are under the whole heaven, who shall hear
report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.
05-3:17 The plain
also, and Jordan, and the coast thereof, from Chinnereth even unto the
sea of the plain, even the salt sea, under
Ashdothpisgah eastward.
05-4:11 And ye
came near and stood under the mountain; and the
mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and
thick darkness.
05-4:19 And lest
thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon,
and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to
worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all
nations under the whole heaven.
05-4:49 And all
the plain on this side Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain, under the springs of Pisgah.
05-7:24 And he
shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name
from under heaven: there shall no man be able to
stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.
05-9:14 Let me alone,
that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under
heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
05-12:2 Ye shall
utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess
served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:
05-25:19 Therefore
it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies
round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an
inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of
Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.
05-28:23 And thy
heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
05-29:20 The LORD will
not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke
against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie
upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under
heaven.
06-7:21 When I saw
among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of
silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and
took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my
tent, and the silver under it.
06-7:22 So Joshua
sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in
his tent, and the silver under it.
06-11:3 And to
the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and
the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the
Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.
06-11:17 Even from
the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of
Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings
he took, and smote them, and slew them.
06-12:3 And from
the plain to the sea of Chinneroth on the east, and unto the sea of the plain, even
the salt sea on the east, the way to Bethjeshimoth; and from the south, under Ashdothpisgah:
06-13:5 And the
land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrising, from Baalgad under mount Hermon unto the entering into Hamath.
06-16:10 And they
drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell
among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under
tribute.
06-24:26 And Joshua
wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and
set it up there under an oak, that was by
the sanctuary of the LORD.
07-1:7 And
Adonibezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great
toes cut off, gathered their meat under
my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to
Jerusalem, and there he died.
07-3:16 But Ehud
made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.
07-3:30 So Moab
was subdued that day under the hand of Israel.
And the land had rest fourscore years.
07-4:5 And she
dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between
Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her
for judgment.
07-6:11 And there
came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak
which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and
his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the
Midianites.
07-6:19 And
Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of
flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought
it out unto him under the oak, and
presented it.
07-9:29 And would
to God this people were under my hand! then
would I remove Abimelech. And he said to Abimelech, Increase thine army, and
come out.
08-2:12 The LORD
recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel,
under whose wings thou art come to trust.
09-7:11 And the
men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them,
until they came under Bethcar.
09-14:2 And Saul
tarried in the uttermost part of Gibeah under a
pomegranate tree which is in Migron: and the people that were with
him were about six hundred men;
09-21:3 Now
therefore what is under thine hand? give me five
loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present.
09-21:4 And the
priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the
young men have kept themselves at least from women.
09-21:8 And David
said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under
thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons
with me, because the king’s business required haste.
09-22:6 When Saul
heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now
Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah,
having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about
him;)
09-31:13 And they
took their bones, and buried them under a
tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
10-2:23 Howbeit
he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear
smote him under the fifth rib, that the
spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place:
and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell
down and died stood still.
10-3:27 And when
Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him
quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib,
that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.
10-4:6 And they
came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have
fetched wheat; and they smote him under the
fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
10-12:31 And he
brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under
harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and
made them pass through the brickkiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of
the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
10-18:2 And David
sent forth a third part of the people under the
hand of Joab, and a third part under the hand of
Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said
unto the people, I will surely go forth with you myself also.
10-18:9 And
Absalom met the servants of David. And Absalom rode upon a mule, and the mule
went under the thick boughs of a great oak, and
his head caught hold of the oak, and he was taken up between the heaven and the
earth; and the mule that was under him
went away.
10-22:10 He bowed
the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.
10-22:37 Thou hast
enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did
not slip.
10-22:39 And I have
consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are
fallen under my feet.
10-22:40 For thou
hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou
subdued under me.
10-22:48 It is God
that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under
me,
11-4:25 And Judah
and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his
vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to
Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.
11-5:3 Thou
knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the
LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD
put them under the soles of his feet.
11-7:24 And under the brim of it round about there were knops
compassing it, ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about: the knops were
cast in two rows, when it was cast.
11-7:30 And every
base had four brasen wheels, and plates of brass: and the four corners thereof
had undersetters: under the laver were undersetters
molten, at the side of every addition.
11-7:32 And under the borders were four wheels; and the
axletrees of the wheels were joined to the base: and the height of a
wheel was a cubit and half a cubit.
11-7:44 And one
sea, and twelve oxen under the sea;
11-8:6 And the
priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the
oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims.
11-13:14 And went
after the man of God, and found him sitting under
an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from
Judah? And he said, I am.
11-14:23 For they
also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.
11-18:23 Let them
therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves,
and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay
it on wood, and put no fire under:
11-18:25 And Elijah
said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and
dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your
gods, but put no fire under.
11-19:4 But he
himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself
that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for
I am not better than my fathers.
11-19:5 And as he
lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then
an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
12-8:20 In his
days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah,
and made a king over themselves.
12-8:22 Yet Edom
revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this
day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.
12-9:13 Then they
hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with
trumpets, saying, Jehu is king.
12-9:33 And he
said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was
sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.
12-13:5 (And the
LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under
the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as
beforetime.
12-14:27 And the
LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of
Jeroboam the son of Joash.
12-16:4 And he sacrificed
and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
12-16:17 And king
Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and
took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pavement of stones.
12-17:7 For so
it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God,
which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had
feared other gods,
12-17:10 And they
set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under
every green tree:
13-10:12 They
arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his
sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
13-17:1 Now it
came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet,
Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth
under curtains.
13-24:19 These were
the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD,
according to their manner, under Aaron their
father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
13-25:2 Of the
sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of
Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied
according to the order of the king.
13-25:3 Of
Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and
Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father
Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD.
13-25:6 All these
were under the hands of their father for
song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for
the service of the house of God, according to the king’s order to Asaph,
Jeduthun, and Heman.
13-26:28 And all
that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and
Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and whosoever had dedicated any
thing, it was under the hand of Shelomith,
and of his brethren.
13-27:23 But David
took not the number of them from twenty years old and under:
because the LORD had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the
heavens.
14-4:3 And under it was the similitude of oxen, which did
compass it round about: ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about. Two
rows of oxen were cast, when it was cast.
14-4:15 One sea,
and twelve oxen under it.
14-5:7 And the priests
brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, to the oracle of
the house, into the most holy place, even under
the wings of the cherubims:
14-13:18 Thus the
children of Israel were brought under at that
time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD
God of their fathers.
14-21:8 In his
days the Edomites revolted from under the
dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.
14-21:10 So the
Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah
unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God
of his fathers.
14-26:11 Moreover
Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to
the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the
ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of
the king’s captains.
14-26:13 And under their hand was an army, three hundred
thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power,
to help the king against the enemy.
14-28:4 He
sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
14-28:10 And now ye
purpose to keep under the children of Judah and
Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: but are there not with
you, even with you, sins against the LORD your God?
14-31:13 And
Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad, and
Eliel, and Ismachiah, and Mahath, and Benaiah, were overseers under the hand of Cononiah and Shimei his brother, at
the commandment of Hezekiah the king, and Azariah the ruler of the house of
God.
16-2:14 Then I
went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king’s pool: but there was no
place for the beast that was under me to
pass.
16-8:17 And all
the congregation of them that were come again out of the captivity made booths,
and sat under the booths: for since the days of
Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so. And
there was very great gladness.
18-9:13 If God
will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
18-20:12 Though
wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;
18-26:5 Dead things
are formed from under the waters, and the
inhabitants thereof.
18-26:8 He
bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.
18-28:5 As for
the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under
it is turned up as it were fire.
18-28:24 For he
looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under
the whole heaven;
18-30:7 Among the
bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were
gathered together.
18-37:3 He
directeth it under the whole heaven, and his
lightning unto the ends of the earth.
18-40:21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and
fens.
18-41:11 Who hath
prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
18-41:30 Sharp
stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp
pointed things upon the mire.
19-8:6 Thou
madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things
under his feet:
19-10:7 His mouth
is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under
his tongue is mischief and vanity.
19-17:8 Keep me
as the apple of the eye, hide me under the
shadow of thy wings,
19-18:9 He bowed
the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
19-18:36 Thou hast
enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not
slip.
19-18:38 I have wounded
them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under
my feet.
19-18:39 For thou
hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
19-18:47 It is God
that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under
me.
19-36:7 How
excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men
put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
19-44:5 Through
thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
19-45:5 Thine
arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies; whereby the
people fall under thee.
19-47:3 He shall
subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.
19-91:1 He that
dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
19-91:4 He shall
cover thee with his feathers, and under his
wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
19-91:13 Thou shalt
tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample
under feet.
19-106:42 Their
enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
19-140:3 They have
sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah.
19-144:2 My goodness,
and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in
whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
20-12:24 The hand
of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
20-22:27 If thou hast
nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under
thee?
21-1:3 What
profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under
the sun?
21-1:9 The
thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is
that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
21-1:13 And I
gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that
are done under heaven: this sore travail hath
God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.
21-1:14 I have
seen all the works that are done under the sun;
and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
21-2:3 I sought
in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom;
and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the
sons of men, which they should do under the
heaven all the days of their life.
21-2:11 Then I
looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had
laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there
was no profit under the sun.
21-2:17 Therefore
I hated life; because the work that is wrought under
the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of
spirit.
21-2:18 Yea, I
hated all my labour which I had taken under the
sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.
21-2:19 And who
knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule
over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself
wise under the sun. This is also vanity.
21-2:20 Therefore
I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun.
21-2:22 For what
hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath
laboured under the sun?
21-3:1 To every
thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
21-3:16 And
moreover I saw under the sun the place of
judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of
righteousness, that iniquity was there.
21-4:1 So I
returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were
oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there
was power; but they had no comforter.
21-4:3 Yea,
better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen
the evil work that is done under the sun.
21-4:7 Then I
returned, and I saw vanity under the sun.
21-4:15 I
considered all the living which walk under the
sun, with the second child that shall stand up in his stead.
21-5:13 There is
a sore evil which I have seen under the
sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.
21-5:18 Behold that
which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and
to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God
giveth him: for it is his portion.
21-6:1 There is
an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is
common among men:
21-6:12 For who
knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his
vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be
after him under the sun?
21-7:6 For as
the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the
laughter of the fool: this also is vanity.
21-8:9 All this
have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man
ruleth over another to his own hurt.
21-8:15 Then I
commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under
the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with
him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.
21-8:17 Then I
beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it
out, yet he shall not find it; yea farther; though a wise man think
to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.
21-9:3 This is
an evil among all things that are done under
the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the
sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they
live, and after that they go to the dead.
21-9:6 Also
their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have
they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
21-9:9 Live
joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity,
which he hath given thee under the sun, all the
days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in
thy labour which thou takest under the sun.
21-9:11 I
returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is
not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the
wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill;
but time and chance happeneth to them all.
21-9:13 This
wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed
great unto me:
21-10:5 There is
an evil which I have seen under the sun, as
an error which proceedeth from the ruler:
22-2:3 As the
apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons.
I sat down under his shadow with great delight,
and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
22-2:6 His left
hand is under my head, and his right hand
doth embrace me.
22-4:11 Thy lips,
O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments is like
the smell of Lebanon.
22-8:3 His left
hand should be under my head, and his
right hand should embrace me.
22-8:5 Who is
this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised
thee up under the apple tree: there thy mother
brought thee forth: there she brought thee forth that bare thee.
23-3:6 When a
man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou
hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
23-10:4 Without
me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and
they shall fall under the slain. For all this
his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
23-10:16 Therefore
shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the
burning of a fire.
23-14:11 Thy pomp
is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is
spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
23-14:19 But thou
art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment
of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the
stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under
feet.
23-14:25 That I
will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them,
and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
23-18:7 In that
time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered
and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation
meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the
rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount
Zion.
23-24:5 The earth
also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof;
because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the
everlasting covenant.
23-25:10 For in
this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the
dunghill.
23-28:3 The crown
of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under
feet:
23-28:15 Because ye
have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at
agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come
unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under
falsehood have we hid ourselves:
23-34:15 There
shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be
gathered, every one with her mate.
23-57:5 Enflaming
yourselves with idols under every green tree,
slaying the children in the valleys under the
clifts of the rocks?
23-58:5 Is it
such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to
bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an
acceptable day to the LORD?
24-2:20 For of
old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I
will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under
every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.
24-3:6 The LORD
said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which
backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the
harlot.
24-3:13 Only
acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy
God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under
every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.
24-10:11 Thus shall
ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even
they shall perish from the earth, and from under
these heavens.
24-12:10 Many
pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a
desolate wilderness.
24-27:8 And it
shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the
same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation
will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with
the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.
24-27:11 But the
nations that bring their neck under the yoke of
the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own
land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.
24-27:12 I spake
also to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your
necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and
serve him and his people, and live.
24-33:13 In the
cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the
south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in
the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under
the hands of him that telleth them, saith the LORD.
24-38:11 So Ebedmelech
took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts
and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.
24-38:12 And
Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said unto Jeremiah, Put now these old cast
clouts and rotten rags under thine armholes under the cords. And Jeremiah did so.
24-48:45 They that
fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because
of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the
midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head
of the tumultuous ones.
24-52:20 The two
pillars, one sea, and twelve brasen bulls that were under the bases, which king Solomon had made in the
house of the LORD: the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
25-1:15 The Lord
hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in
the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men:
the Lord hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a
winepress.
25-3:34 To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
25-3:66 Persecute
and destroy them in anger from under the heavens
of the LORD.
25-4:20 The
breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of
whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live
among the heathen.
25-5:5 Our
necks are under persecution: we labour, and
have no rest.
25-5:13 They took
the young men to grind, and the children fell under
the wood.
26-1:8 And they
had the hands of a man under their wings on
their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.
26-1:23 And under the firmament were their wings straight,
the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and
every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.
26-6:13 Then
shall ye know that I am the LORD, when their slain men shall be
among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, in all the
tops of the mountains, and under every green
tree, and under every thick oak, the place where
they did offer sweet savour to all their idols.
26-10:2 And he
spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even
under the cherub, and fill thine hand with
coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the
city. And he went in in my sight.
26-10:8 And there
appeared in the cherubims the form of a man’s hand under
their wings.
26-10:20 This is
the living creature that I saw under the God
of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were the
cherubims.
26-10:21 Every one
had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands
of a man was under their wings.
26-17:6 And it
grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward
him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it
became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
26-17:23 In the
mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth
boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under
it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof
shall they dwell.
26-20:37 And I will
cause you to pass under the rod, and I will
bring you into the bond of the covenant:
26-24:5 Take the
choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under
it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.
26-31:6 All the
fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under
his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations.
26-31:17 They also
went down into hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and
they that were his arm, that dwelt under
his shadow in the midst of the heathen.
26-32:27 And they
shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the uncircumcised,
which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their
swords under their heads, but their iniquities
shall be upon their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in
the land of the living.
26-42:9 And from under these chambers was the entry on the east
side, as one goeth into them from the utter court.
26-46:23 And there
was a row of building round about in them, round about them four,
and it was made with boiling places under
the rows round about.
26-47:1 Afterward
he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out
from under the threshold of the house eastward:
for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters
came down from under from the right side of the
house, at the south side of the altar.
27-4:12 The
leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat
for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under
it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was
fed of it.
27-4:14 He cried
aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off
his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:
27-4:21 Whose
leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat
for all; under which the beasts of the field
dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:
27-7:27 And the
kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under
the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High,
whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve
and obey him.
27-8:13 Then I
heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which
spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice,
and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the
host to be trodden under foot?
27-9:12 And he
hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges
that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under
the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
28-4:12 My people
ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the
spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a
whoring from under their God.
28-4:13 They
sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow
thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and
your spouses shall commit adultery.
28-14:7 They that
dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall
revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as
the wine of Lebanon.
29-1:17 The seed
is rotten under their clods, the garners are
laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.
30-2:13 Behold, I
am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that
is full of sheaves.
31-1:7 All the
men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men
that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against
thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under
thee: there is none understanding in him.
32-4:5 So Jonah
went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him
a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he
might see what would become of the city.
33-1:4 And the
mountains shall be molten under him, and the
valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that
are poured down a steep place.
33-4:4 But they
shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid:
for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.
38-3:10 In that day,
saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under
the fig tree.
39-4:3 And ye
shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under
the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD
of hosts.
40-2:16 Then
Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and
sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the
coasts thereof, from two years old and under,
according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
40-5:13 Ye are
the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it
be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be
trodden under foot of men.
40-5:15 Neither
do men light a candle, and put it under a
bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the
house.
40-7:6 Give not
that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine,
lest they trample them under their feet, and
turn again and rend you.
40-8:8 The
centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant
shall be healed.
40-8:9 For I am
a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he
goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he
doeth it.
40-23:37 O
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them
which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children
together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under
her wings, and ye would not!
41-4:21 And he
said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under
a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a
candlestick?
41-4:32 But when
it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth
out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
41-6:11 And
whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off
the dust under your feet for a testimony against
them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha
in the day of judgment, than for that city.
41-7:28 And she
answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under
the table eat of the children’s crumbs.
42-7:6 Then
Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion
sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy
that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
42-7:8 For I
also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he
goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he
doeth it.
42-8:16 No man,
when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick,
that they which enter in may see the light.
42-11:33 No man,
when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which
come in may see the light.
42-13:34 O
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are
sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen
doth gather her brood under her wings,
and ye would not!
42-17:24 For as the
lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under
heaven, shineth unto the other part under
heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.
43-1:48 Nathanael
saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him,
Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under
the fig tree, I saw thee.
43-1:50 Jesus
answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see
greater things than these.
44-2:5 And
there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
44-4:12 Neither
is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be
saved.
44-8:27 And he
arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the
charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
44-23:12 And when
it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor
drink till they had killed Paul.
44-23:14 And they
came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we
have slain Paul.
44-27:4 And when
we had launched from thence, we sailed under
Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.
44-27:7 And when
we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the
wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete,
over against Salmone;
44-27:16 And
running under a certain island which is called
Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:
44-27:30 And as the
shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat
into the sea, under colour as though they would
have cast anchors out of the foreship,
45-3:9 What
then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved
both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under
sin;
45-3:13 Their
throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit;
the poison of asps is under their lips:
45-3:19 Now we
know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and
all the world may become guilty before God.
