to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then
began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
01-6:1 And
it came to pass, when men began to multiply on
the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
01-6:2 That
the sons of God saw the daughters of men that
they were fair; and they took them
wives of all which they chose.
01-6:4 There
were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of
God came in unto the daughters of men, and they
bare children to them, the same became mighty men
which were of old, men of renown.
01-11:5 And
the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
01-12:20 And
Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his
wife, and all that he had.
01-13:13 But
the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.
01-14:24 Save
only that which the young men have eaten, and
the portion of the men which went with me, Aner,
Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
01-17:23 And
Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that
were bought with his money, every male among the men

this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring
them out unto you, and do ye to them as is
good in your eyes: only unto these men do
nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
01-19:10 But
the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot
into the house to them, and shut to the door.
01-19:11 And
they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great:
so that they wearied themselves to find the door.
01-19:12 And
the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any
besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast
in the city, bring them out of this
place:
01-19:16 And
while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his
hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters;
the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him
without the city.
01-20:8 Therefore
Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all
these things in their ears: and the men were
sore afraid.
01-22:3 And
Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his
young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave
the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which
God had told him.
01-22:5 And
Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here
with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to
you.
01-22:19 So
Abraham returned unto his young men, and they
rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.
01-24:13 Behold,
I stand here by the well of water; and
the daughters of the men of the city come out to
draw water:
01-24:54 And
they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night;
and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my master.

they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham’s servant, and
his men.

Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
01-33:13 And
he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will
die.
01-34:7 And
the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and
they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with
Jacob’s daughter; which thing ought not to be done.
01-34:20 And
Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with
the men of their city, saying,
01-34:21 These
men are peaceable
with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land,
behold, it is large enough for them;
let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our
daughters.
01-34:22 Only
herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell
with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised.
01-38:21 Then
he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the harlot, that was openly by the way side? And they said, There was no harlot in
this place.
01-38:22 And
he returned to Judah, and said, I cannot find her; and also the men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place.
01-39:11 And
it came to pass about this time, that Joseph
went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the
house there within.
01-39:14 That
she called unto the men of her house, and spake
unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he
came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:

it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and
called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them
unto Pharaoh.
01-42:11 We
are all one man’s sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies.
01-42:19 If
ye be true men, let one of your brethren be
bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your
houses:
01-42:31 And
we said unto him, We are true men; we
are no spies:
01-42:33 And
the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households,
and be gone:
01-42:34 And
bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will
I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land.
01-43:15 And
the men took that present, and they took double
money in their hand, and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and
stood before Joseph.
01-43:16 And
when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men
home, and slay, and make ready; for these
men shall dine with me at noon.
01-43:17 And
the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men
into Joseph’s house.
01-43:18 And
the men were afraid, because they were brought
into Joseph’s house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our
sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against
us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.
01-43:24 And
the man brought the men into Joseph’s house, and
gave them water, and they washed
their feet; and he gave their asses provender.
01-43:33 And
they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the
youngest according to his youth: and the men
marvelled one at another.
01-44:3 As
soon as the morning was light, the men were sent
away, they and their asses.
01-44:4 And when they were gone out of the city,
and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them,
Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?

shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought

the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but
saved the men children alive.

the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done
this thing, and have saved the men children
alive?
02-2:13 And
when he went out the second day, behold, two men
of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong,
Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?
02-4:19 And
the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.
02-5:9 Let
there more work be laid upon the men, that they
may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.
02-7:11 Then
Pharaoh also called the wise men and the
sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their
enchantments.
02-10:7 And
Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us?
let the men go, that they may serve the LORD
their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?
02-10:11 Not
so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And
they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.
02-12:33 And
the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the
land in haste; for they said, We be all
dead men.
02-12:37 And
the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred
thousand on foot that were men, beside children.
02-15:15 Then
the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men
of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan
shall melt away.
02-17:9 And
Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and
go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with
the rod of God in mine hand.
02-18:21 Moreover
thou shalt provide out of all the people able men,
such as fear God, men of truth, hating
covetousness; and place such over
them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of
fifties, and rulers of tens:
02-18:25 And
Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made
them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of
fifties, and rulers of tens.
02-21:18 And
if men strive together, and one smite another
with a stone, or with his fist, and
he die not, but keepeth his bed:
02-21:22 If
men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that
her fruit depart from her, and yet no
mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband
will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
02-22:31 And
ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye
eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
02-24:5 And
he sent young men of the children of Israel,
which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the
LORD.
02-32:28 And
the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the
people that day about three thousand men.
02-35:22 And
they came, both men and women, as many as were
willing hearted, and brought
bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every
man that offered offered an offering
of gold unto the LORD.
02-36:4 And
all the wise men, that wrought all the work of
the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they made;
02-38:26 A
bekah for every man, that is, half a
shekel, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for every one that went to be
numbered, from twenty years old and upward, for six hundred thousand and three
thousand and five hundred and fifty men.
03-7:25 For
whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men
offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people.
03-18:27 (For
all these abominations have the men of the land
done, which were before you, and the
land is defiled;)
03-27:9 And
if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any man giveth of such unto the LORD
shall be holy.
03-27:29 None
devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be
redeemed; but shall surely be put to
death.
04-1:5 And
these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of the tribe of Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.
04-1:17 And
Moses and Aaron took these men which are
expressed by their names:
04-1:44 These
are those that were numbered, which
Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for
the house of his fathers.
04-5:6 Speak
unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the LORD, and
that person be guilty;
04-9:6 And
there were certain men, who were defiled by the
dead body of a man, that they could not keep the passover on that day: and they
came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:
04-9:7 And
those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back,
that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the
children of Israel?
04-11:16 And
the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men
of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and
officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation,
that they may stand there with thee.
04-11:24 And
Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the
seventy men of the elders of the people, and set
them round about the tabernacle.
04-11:26 But
there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other
Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the
tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.
04-11:28 And
Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and
said, My lord Moses, forbid them.
04-12:3 (Now
the man Moses was very meek, above
all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)
04-13:2 Send
thou men, that they may search the land of
Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their
fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
04-13:3 And
Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran:
all those men were heads of the children of Israel.
04-13:16 These
are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses
called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.
04-13:21 So
they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.
04-13:31 But
the men that went up with him said, We be not
able to go up against the people; for they are
stronger than we.
04-13:32 And
they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the
children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants
thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
04-14:22 Because
all those men which have seen my glory, and my
miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now
these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
04-14:36 And
the men, which Moses sent to search the land,
who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing
up a slander upon the land,
04-14:37 Even
those men that did bring up the evil report upon
the land, died by the plague before the LORD.
04-14:38 But
Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to
search the land, lived still.
04-16:1 Now
Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
04-16:2 And
they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred
and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:
04-16:14 Moreover
thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given
us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.
04-16:26 And
he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of
these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs,
lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
04-16:29 If
these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all
men; then the
LORD hath not sent me.
04-16:30 But
if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them
up, with all that appertain unto
them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.
04-16:32 And
the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all
the men that appertained
unto Korah, and all their goods.
04-16:35 And
there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.
04-18:15 Every
thing that openeth the matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the firstborn of man
shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou
redeem.
04-22:9 And
God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?
04-22:20 And
God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee,
that shalt thou do.
04-22:35 And
the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men:
but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So
Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
04-25:5 And
Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baalpeor.
04-26:10 And
the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when
that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.
04-31:11 And
they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both
of men and of beasts.
04-31:21 And
Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war
which went to the battle, This is the
ordinance of the law which the LORD commanded Moses;
04-31:28 And
levy a tribute unto the LORD of the men of war
which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of
the sheep:
04-31:32 And
the booty, being the rest of the prey
which the men of war had caught, was six hundred
thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep.
04-31:42 And
of the children of Israel’s half, which Moses divided from the men that warred,
04-31:49 And
they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are
under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.
04-31:53 (For the men
of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.)
04-32:11 Surely
none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from
twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham,
unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:
04-32:14 And,
behold, ye are risen up in your fathers’ stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD
toward Israel.
04-34:17 These
are the names of the men which shall divide the land unto you: Eleazar the
priest, and Joshua the son of Nun.
04-34:19 And
the names of the men are these: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
05-1:13 Take
you wise men, and understanding, and known among
your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.
05-1:15 So
I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and
known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over
hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among
your tribes.
05-1:22 And
ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land,
and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we
shall come.
05-1:23 And
the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men
of you, one of a tribe:
05-1:35 Surely
there shall not one of these men of this evil
generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,
05-2:14 And
the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook
Zered, was thirty and eight years;
until all the generation of the men of war were
wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.
05-2:16 So
it came to pass, when all the men of war were
consumed and dead from among the people,
05-2:34 And
we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every
city, we left none to remain:
05-3:6 And
we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly
destroying the men, women, and children, of
every city.
05-4:3 Your
eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath
destroyed them from among you.
05-13:13 Certain men,
the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the
inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye
have not known;
05-19:17 Then
both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before
the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;
05-21:21 And
all the men of his city shall stone him with
stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel
shall hear, and fear.
05-22:21 Then
they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she
die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her
father’s house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.
05-25:1 If
there be a controversy between men, and they
come unto judgment, that the judges may
judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.
05-25:11 When
men strive together one with another, and the
wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him
that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:
05-27:14 And
the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men
of Israel with a loud voice,
05-29:10 Ye
stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your
tribes, your elders, and your officers, with
all the men of Israel,
05-29:25 Then
men shall say, Because they have forsaken the
covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he
brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:
05-31:12 Gather
the people together, men, and women, and children,
and thy stranger that is within thy
gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God,
and observe to do all the words of this law:
05-32:26 I
said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them
to cease from among men:
05-33:6 Let
Reuben live, and not die; and let not his
men be few.
06-1:14 Your
wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses
gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all
the mighty men of valour, and help them;
06-2:1 And
Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men
to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and
came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.
06-2:2 And
it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to
search out the country.
06-2:3 And
the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into
thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.
06-2:4 And
the woman took the two men, and hid them, and
said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist
not whence they were:
06-2:5 And
it came to pass about the time of shutting
of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went
out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue
after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.
06-2:7 And
the men pursued after them the way to Jordan
unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out,
they shut the gate.
06-2:9 And
she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath
given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the
inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
06-2:14 And
the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye
utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the
land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
06-2:17 And
the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.
06-2:23 So
the two men returned, and descended from the
mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:
06-3:12 Now
therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes
of Israel, out of every tribe a man.
06-4:2 Take
you twelve men out of the people, out of every
tribe a man,
06-4:4 Then
Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had
prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:
06-5:4 And
this is the cause why Joshua did
circumcise: All the people that came out of Egypt, that were males, even all
the men of war, died in the wilderness by the
way, after they came out of Egypt.
06-5:6 For
the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the
people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed,
because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he
would not shew them the land, which the LORD sware unto their fathers that he
would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
06-6:2 And
the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the
king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.
06-6:3 And
ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go
round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
06-6:9 And
the armed men went before the priests that blew
with the trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.
06-6:13 And
seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD
went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the
ark of the LORD, the priests going
on, and blowing with the trumpets.
06-6:22 But
Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied
out the country, Go into the harlot’s house, and bring out thence the woman,
and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.
06-6:23 And
the young men that were spies went in, and
brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all
that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the
camp of Israel.
06-7:2 And
Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of
Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.
06-7:3 And
they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but
let about two or three thousand men go up and
smite Ai; and make not all the people
to labour thither; for they are but few.
06-7:4 So
there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men
of Ai.
06-7:5 And
the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six
men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto
Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people
melted, and became as water.
06-8:3 So
Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai: and Joshua chose
out thirty thousand mighty men of valour, and
sent them away by night.
06-8:12 And
he took about five thousand men, and set them to
lie in ambush between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of the city.
06-8:14 And
it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw it,
that they hasted and rose up early, and the men
of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time
appointed, before the plain; but he wist not that there were liers in ambush against him behind the city.
06-8:20 And
when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw,
and, behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power
to flee this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned
back upon the pursuers.
06-8:21 And
when Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city, and that the
smoke of the city ascended, then they turned again, and slew the men of Ai.
06-8:25 And
so it was, that all that fell that day, both of men
and women, were twelve thousand, even all the men
of Ai.
06-9:6 And
they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now
therefore make ye a league with us.
06-9:7 And
the men of Israel said unto the Hivites,
Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?
06-9:14 And
the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD.
06-10:2 That
they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a
great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men
thereof were mighty.
06-10:6 And
the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp
to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly,
and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the
mountains are gathered together against us.
06-10:7 So
Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all
the mighty men of valour.
06-10:18 And
Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:
06-10:24 And
it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua
called for all the men of Israel, and said unto
the captains of the men of war which went with
him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came
near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.
06-18:4 Give
out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and
they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the
inheritance of them; and they shall come again
to me.
06-18:8 And
the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged
them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and
describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the
LORD in Shiloh.
06-18:9 And
the men went and passed through the land, and
described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua to the host at Shiloh.
06-24:11 And
ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men
of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the
Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the
Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.
07-1:4 And
Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into
their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
07-3:29 And
they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men,
all lusty, and all men of valour; and there
escaped not a man.
07-3:31 And
after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six
hundred men with an ox goad: and he also
delivered Israel.
07-4:6 And
she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said
unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten
thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of
the children of Zebulun?
07-4:10 And
Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him.
07-4:14 And
Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the
day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD
gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.
07-6:27 Then
Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as
the LORD had said unto him: and so it
was, because he feared his father’s household, and the men
of the city, that he could not do it by
day, that he did it by night.
07-6:28 And
when the men of the city arose early in the
morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down
that was by it, and the second
bullock was offered upon the altar that
was built.
07-6:30 Then
the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out
thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and
because he hath cut down the grove that was
by it.
07-7:6 And
the number of them that lapped, putting their
hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but
all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.
07-7:7 And
the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men
that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and
let all the other people go every man
unto his place.
07-7:8 So
the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his
tent, and retained those three hundred men: and
the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.
07-7:11 And
thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened
to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the
outside of the armed men that were in the host.
07-7:16 And
he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a
trumpet in every man’s hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the
pitchers.
07-7:19 So
Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of
the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the
watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.
07-7:23 And
the men of Israel gathered themselves together
out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after
the Midianites.
07-7:24 And
Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, Come down against
the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. Then
all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves
together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan.
07-8:1 And
the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou
served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the
Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.
07-8:4 And
Gideon came to Jordan, and passed
over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.
07-8:5 And
he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray
you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah
and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.
07-8:8 And
he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.
07-8:9 And
he spake also unto the men of Penuel, saying,
When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.
07-8:10 Now
Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor,
and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the
hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty
thousand men that drew sword.
07-8:14 And
caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and
enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the
elders thereof, even threescore and
seventeen men.
07-8:15 And
he came unto the men of Succoth, and said,
Behold Zebah and Zalmunna with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now
in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men
that are weary?
07-8:16 And
he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and
with them he taught the men of Succoth.
07-8:17 And
he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men
of the city.
07-8:18 Then
said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men
were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And
they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the
children of a king.
07-8:22 Then
the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou
over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also: for thou hast
delivered us from the hand of Midian.
07-9:2 Speak,
I pray you, in the ears of all the men of
Shechem, Whether is better for you,
either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which
are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you?
remember also that I am your bone and
your flesh.
07-9:3 And
his mother’s brethren spake of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts
inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.
07-9:6 And
all the men of Shechem gathered together, and
all the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the plain of the
pillar that was in Shechem.
07-9:7 And
when they told it to Jotham, he went
and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and
said unto them, Hearken unto me, ye men of
Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.
07-9:18 And
ye are risen up against my father’s house this day, and have slain his sons,
threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of
his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem,
because he is your brother;)
07-9:20 But
if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire
come out from the men of Shechem, and from the
house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.
07-9:23 Then
God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men
of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt
treacherously with Abimelech:
07-9:24 That
the cruelty done to the threescore
and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their
brother, which slew them; and upon the men of
Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.
07-9:25 And
the men of Shechem set liers in wait for him in
the top of the mountains, and they robbed all that came along that way by them:
and it was told Abimelech.
07-9:26 And
Gaal the son of Ebed came with his brethren, and went over to Shechem: and the men of Shechem put their confidence in him.
07-9:28 And
Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech,
and who is Shechem, that we should
serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his
officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of
Shechem: for why should we serve him?
07-9:36 And
when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, Behold, there come people down from
the top of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, Thou seest the shadow of the
mountains as if they were men.
07-9:39 And
Gaal went out before the men of Shechem, and
fought with Abimelech.
07-9:46 And
when all the men of the tower of Shechem heard that, they entered into an hold of the
house of the god Berith.
07-9:47 And
it was told Abimelech, that all the men of the
tower of Shechem were gathered together.
07-9:49 And
all the people likewise cut down every man his bough, and followed Abimelech,
and put them to the hold, and set the
hold on fire upon them; so that all the men of
the tower of Shechem died also, about a thousand men
and women.
07-9:51 But
there was a strong tower within the city, and thither fled all the men and women, and all they of the city, and shut it to them, and gat them up to the top
of the tower.
07-9:54 Then
he called hastily unto the young man his armourbearer, and said unto him, Draw
thy sword, and slay me, that men say not of me,
A woman slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died.
07-9:55 And
when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was
dead, they departed every man unto his place.
07-9:57 And
all the evil of the men of Shechem did God
render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of
Jerubbaal.
07-11:3 Then
Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were
gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with
him.
07-12:1 And
the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together,
and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to
fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we
will burn thine house upon thee with fire.
07-12:4 Then
Jephthah gathered together all the men of
Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of
Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.
07-12:5 And
the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so that when those Ephraimites which were
escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of
Gilead said unto him, Art thou an
Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;
07-14:10 So
his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used
the young men to do.
07-14:18 And
the men of the city said unto him on the seventh
day before the sun went down, What is sweeter
than honey? and what is stronger than
a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not
found out my riddle.
07-14:19 And
the spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew
thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and
gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was
kindled, and he went up to his father’s house.
07-15:10 And
the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up
against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as
he hath done to us.
07-15:11 Then
three thousand men of Judah went to the top of
the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did
unto me, so have I done unto them.
07-15:15 And
he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew
a thousand men therewith.
07-15:16 And
Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an
ass have I slain a thousand men.
07-16:9 Now
there were men
lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The
Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And
he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So
his strength was not known.
07-16:27 Now
the house was full of men and women; and all the
lords of the Philistines were there;
and there were upon the roof about
three thousand men and women, that beheld while
Samson made sport.
07-18:2 And
the children of Dan sent of their family five men
from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah,
and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto
them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of
Micah, they lodged there.
07-18:7 Then
the five men departed, and came to Laish, and
saw the people that were therein, how
they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land,
that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.
07-18:11 And
there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of
Eshtaol, six hundred men appointed with weapons
of war.
07-18:14 Then
answered the five men that went to spy out the
country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in
these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image?
now therefore consider what ye have to do.
07-18:16 And
the six hundred men appointed with their weapons
of war, which were of the children of
Dan, stood by the entering of the gate.
07-18:17 And
the five men that went to spy out the land went
up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the
ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the
entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war.
07-18:22 And when they were a good way from the
house of Micah, the men that were in the houses near to Micah’s house
were gathered together, and overtook the children of Dan.
07-19:16 And,
behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at even, which was also of mount Ephraim; and he
sojourned in Gibeah: but the men of the place were Benjamites.
07-19:22 Now as they were making their hearts
merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons
of Belial, beset the house round about, and
beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man,
saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.
07-19:25 But
the men would not hearken to him: so the man
took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and
abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring,
they let her go.
07-20:5 And
the men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the
house round about upon me by night, and thought
to have slain me: and my concubine have they forced, that she is dead.
07-20:10 And
we will take ten men of an hundred throughout
all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten
thousand, to fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come to
Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in
Israel.
07-20:11 So
all the men of Israel were gathered against the
city, knit together as one man.
07-20:12 And
the tribes of Israel sent men through all the
tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is
this that is done among you?
07-20:13 Now
therefore deliver us the men, the children of Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to
death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not
hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:
07-20:15 And
the children of Benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities twenty
and six thousand men that drew sword, beside the
inhabitants of Gibeah, which were numbered seven hundred chosen men.
07-20:16 Among
all this people there were seven
hundred chosen men lefthanded; every one could
sling stones at an hair breadth, and
not miss.
07-20:17 And
the men of Israel, beside Benjamin, were
numbered four hundred thousand men that drew
sword: all these were men of war.
07-20:20 And
the men of Israel went out to battle against
Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves
in array to fight against them at Gibeah.
07-20:21 And
the children of Benjamin came forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed down to the
ground of the Israelites that day twenty and two thousand men.
07-20:22 And
the people the men of Israel encouraged themselves,
and set their battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in
array the first day.
07-20:25 And
Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and destroyed
down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men; all these drew the sword.
07-20:31 And
the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to smite of the
people, and kill, as at other times,
in the highways, of which one goeth up to the house of God, and the other to
Gibeah in the field, about thirty men of Israel.
07-20:33 And
all the men of Israel rose up out of their
place, and put themselves in array at Baaltamar: and the liers in wait of
Israel came forth out of their places, even
out of the meadows of Gibeah.
07-20:34 And
there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men
out of all Israel, and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil was near them.
07-20:35 And
the LORD smote Benjamin before Israel: and the children of Israel destroyed of
the Benjamites that day twenty and five thousand and an hundred men: all these drew the sword.
07-20:36 So
the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because
they trusted unto the liers in wait which they had set beside Gibeah.
07-20:38 Now
there was an appointed sign between the men of
Israel and the liers in wait, that they should make a great flame with smoke
rise up out of the city.
07-20:39 And
when the men of Israel retired in the battle,
Benjamin began to smite and kill of
the men of Israel about thirty persons: for they
said, Surely they are smitten down before us, as in the first battle.
07-20:41 And
when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed: for they saw that evil
was come upon them.
07-20:42 Therefore
they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the
battle overtook them; and them which came
out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them.
07-20:44 And
there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men;
all these were men of valour.
07-20:45 And
they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of Rimmon: and they
gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men;
and pursued hard after them unto Gidom, and slew two thousand men of them.
07-20:46 So
that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men
of valour.
07-20:47 But
six hundred men turned and fled to the
wilderness unto the rock Rimmon, and abode in the rock Rimmon four months.
07-20:48 And
the men of Israel turned again upon the children
of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city,
as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities
that they came to.
07-21:1 Now
the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying,
There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife.
07-21:10 And
the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men
of the valiantest, and commanded them, saying, Go and smite the inhabitants of
Jabeshgilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the children.
08-2:9 Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I
not charged the young men that they shall not
touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.
08-2:15 And
when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and
reproach her not:
08-2:21 And
Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young
men, until they have ended all my harvest.
08-3:10 And
he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD,
my daughter: for thou hast shewed
more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou
followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.
08-4:2 And
he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said,
Sit ye down here. And they sat down.
09-2:4 The
bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.
09-2:17 Wherefore
the sin of the young men was very great before
the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the
LORD.
09-2:26 And
the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.
09-4:2 And
the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined
battle, Israel was smitten before the Philistines: and they slew of the army in
the field about four thousand men.
09-4:9 Be
strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye
Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to
you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.
09-5:7 And
when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God
of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon
our god.
09-5:9 And
it was so, that, after they had
carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great
destruction: and he smote the men of the city,
both small and great, and they had emerods in their secret parts.
09-5:12 And
the men that died not were smitten with the
emerods: and the cry of the city went up to heaven.
09-6:10 And
the men did so; and took two milch kine, and
tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home:
09-6:15 And
the Levites took down the ark of the LORD, and the coffer that was with it, wherein the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: and the men
of Bethshemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day
unto the LORD.
09-6:19 And
he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they
had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand
and threescore and ten men: and the people
lamented, because the LORD had smitten many
of the people with a great slaughter.
09-6:20 And
the men of Bethshemesh said, Who is able to
stand before this holy LORD God? and to whom shall he go up from us?
09-7:1 And
the men of Kirjathjearim came, and fetched up
the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and
sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.
09-7:11 And
the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued
the Philistines, and smote them, until they
came under Bethcar.
09-8:16 And
he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.
09-8:22 And
the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And
Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every
man unto his city.
09-10:2 When
thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel’s sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at
Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are
found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for
you, saying, What shall I do for my son?
09-10:3 Then
shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of
Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going
up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves
of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:
09-10:26 And
Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.
09-11:1 Then
Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with
us, and we will serve thee.
09-11:5 And,
behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they weep? And
they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.
09-11:8 And
when he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand,
and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
09-11:9 And
they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of Jabeshgilead, To morrow, by that time the sun be hot, ye shall have
help. And the messengers came and shewed it
to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
09-11:10 Therefore
the men of Jabesh said, To morrow we will come
out unto you, and ye shall do with us all that seemeth good unto you.
09-11:12 And
the people said unto Samuel, Who is he
that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men,
that we may put them to death.
09-11:15 And
all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in
Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD;
and there Saul and all the men of Israel
rejoiced greatly.
09-13:2 Saul
chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof
two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Bethel, and a thousand
were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent
every man to his tent.
09-13:6 When
the men of Israel saw that they were in a
strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves
in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.
09-13:15 And
Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul
numbered the people that were present
with him, about six hundred men.
09-14:2 And
Saul tarried in the uttermost part of Gibeah under a pomegranate tree which is in Migron: and the people that were with him were about six hundred men;
09-14:8 Then
said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will discover
ourselves unto them.
09-14:12 And
the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and
his armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And
Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me: for the LORD hath
delivered them into the hand of Israel.
09-14:14 And
that first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armourbearer made, was about
twenty men, within as it were an half acre of
land, which a yoke of oxen might plow.
09-14:22 Likewise
all the men of Israel which had hid themselves
in mount Ephraim, when they heard
that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the
battle.
09-14:24 And
the men of Israel were distressed that day: for
Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be
the man that eateth any food
until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people
tasted any food.
09-15:4 And
Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred
thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
09-17:2 And
Saul and the men of Israel were gathered
together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array
against the Philistines.
09-17:12 Now
David was the son of that Ephrathite
of Bethlehemjudah, whose name was Jesse;
and he had eight sons: and the man went among men
for an old man in the days of Saul.
09-17:19 Now
Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel, were in the valley of Elah, fighting
with the Philistines.
09-17:24 And
all the men of Israel, when they saw the man,
fled from him, and were sore afraid.
09-17:25 And
the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man
that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king
will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his
father’s house free in Israel.
09-17:26 And
David spake to the men that stood by him, saying,
What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the
reproach from Israel? for who is this
uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
09-17:28 And
Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men;
and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down
hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know
thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou
mightest see the battle.
09-17:52 And
the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and
shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the
gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim,
even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.
09-18:5 And
David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and
behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men
of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the
sight of Saul’s servants.
09-18:27 Wherefore
David arose and went, he and his men, and slew
of the Philistines two hundred men; and David
brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king, that he
might be the king’s son in law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife.
09-21:4 And
the priest answered David, and said, There
is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the
young men have kept themselves at least from
women.
09-21:5 And
David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three
days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men
are holy, and the bread is in a
manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.
09-21:15 Have
I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my
presence? shall this fellow come into
my house?
09-22:2 And
every one that was in distress, and
every one that was in debt, and every
one that was discontented, gathered
themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him
about four hundred men.
09-22:6 When
Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men
that were with him, (now Saul abode
in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his
servants were standing about him;)
09-22:19 And
Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and
asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
09-23:3 And
David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid
here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of
the Philistines?
09-23:5 So
David and his men went to Keilah, and fought
with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a
great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
09-23:8 And
Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege
David and his men.
09-23:11 Will
the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will
Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech
thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.
09-23:12 Then
said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me
and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD
said, They will deliver thee up.
09-23:13 Then
David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and
went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped
from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.
09-23:24 And
they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in
the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.
09-23:25 Saul
also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he
came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard
that, he pursued after David in the
wilderness of Maon.
09-23:26 And
Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste
to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men
compassed David and his men round about to take
them.
09-24:2 Then
Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all
Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon
the rocks of the wild goats.
09-24:3 And
he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was
a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.
09-24:4 And
the men of David said unto him, Behold the day
of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine
hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David
arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul’s robe privily.
09-24:6 And
he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I
should do this thing unto my master, the LORD’S anointed, to stretch forth mine
hand against him, seeing he is the
anointed of the LORD.
09-24:22 And
David sware unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men gat them up unto the hold.
09-25:5 And
David sent out ten young men, and David said
unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go
to Nabal, and greet him in my name:
09-25:8 Ask
thy young men, and they will shew thee.
Wherefore let the young men find favour in thine
eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine
hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David.
09-25:9 And
when David’s young men came, they spake to Nabal
according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.
09-25:11 Shall
I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my
shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?
09-25:12 So
David’s young men turned their way, and went
again, and came and told him all those sayings.
09-25:13 And
David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man
his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his
sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.
09-25:14 But
one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal’s wife,
saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our
master; and he railed on them.
09-25:15 But
the men were
very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as
long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields:
09-25:20 And
it was so, as she rode on the ass,
that she came down by the covert on the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them.
09-25:25 Let
not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is,
so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw
not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst
send.
09-25:27 And
now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even
be given unto the young men that follow my lord.
09-26:2 Then
Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand
chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in
the wilderness of Ziph.
09-26:19 Now
therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If
the LORD have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they
before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the
inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.
09-26:22 And
David answered and said, Behold the king’s spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.
09-27:2 And
David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men
that were with him unto Achish, the
son of Maoch, king of Gath.
09-27:3 And
David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men,
every man with his household, even David
with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess,
Nabal’s wife.
09-27:8 And
David and his men went up, and invaded the
Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of
the land, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.
09-28:1 And
it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies
together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know
thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.
09-28:8 And
Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and
he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
09-29:2 And
the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands: but David
and his men passed on in the rereward with
Achish.
09-29:4 And
the princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the
Philistines said unto him, Make this fellow return, that he may go again to his
place which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle,
lest in the battle he be an adversary to us: for wherewith should he reconcile
himself unto his master? should it not
be with the heads of these men?
09-29:11 So
David and his men rose up early to depart in the
morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went
up to Jezreel.
09-30:1 And
it came to pass, when David and his men were
come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and
Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;
09-30:3 So
David and his men came to the city, and, behold,
it was burned with fire; and their
wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.
09-30:9 So
David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook
Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.
09-30:10 But
David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred
abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.
09-30:17 And
David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and
there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.
09-30:21 And
David came to the two hundred men, which were so
faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to abide at the
brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that were with him: and when David came near
to the people, he saluted them.
09-30:22 Then
answered all the wicked men and men of
Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us,
we will not give them ought of the
spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that
they may lead them away, and depart.
09-30:31 And
to them which were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt.
09-31:1 Now
the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men
of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount
Gilboa.
09-31:6 So
Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together.
09-31:7 And
when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the
other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel
fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled;
and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
09-31:12 All
the valiant men arose, and went all night, and
took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and
came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.
10-1:11 Then
David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with
him:
10-1:15 And
David called one of the young men, and said, Go
near, and fall upon him. And he smote
him that he died.
10-2:3 And
his men that were
with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt
in the cities of Hebron.
10-2:4 And
the men of Judah came, and there they anointed
David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men
of Jabeshgilead were they that buried
Saul.
10-2:5 And
David sent messengers unto the men of
Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be
ye of the LORD, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.
10-2:14 And
Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise,
and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.
10-2:17 And
there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.
10-2:21 And
Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay
thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee
his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.
10-2:29 And
Abner and his men walked all that night through
the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came
to Mahanaim.
10-2:30 And
Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people
together, there lacked of David’s servants nineteen men
and Asahel.
10-2:31 But
the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner’s men, so that three
hundred and threescore men died.
10-2:32 And
they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break
of day.
10-3:20 So
Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men
with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.
10-3:34 Thy
hands were not bound, nor thy feet
put into fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men,
so fellest thou. And all the people
wept again over him.
10-3:39 And
I am this day weak, though anointed
king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall
reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.
10-4:2 And
Saul’s son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other
Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for
Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin.
10-4:11 How
much more, when wicked men have slain a
righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now
require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
10-4:12 And
David commanded his young men, and they slew
them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of
Ishbosheth, and buried it in the
sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
10-5:6 And
the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the
Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except
thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking,
David cannot come in hither.
10-5:21 And
there they left their images, and David and his men
burned them.
10-6:1 Again,
David gathered together all the chosen
men of
Israel, thirty thousand.
10-6:19 And
he dealt among all the people, even among
the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men,
to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of
wine. So all the people departed every one to his house.
10-7:9 And
I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies
out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the
great men that
are in the earth.
10-7:14 I
will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will
chasten him with the rod of men, and with the
stripes of the children of men:
10-8:5 And
when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David
slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
10-8:13 And
David gat him a name when he returned
from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.
10-10:5 When
they told it unto David, he sent to
meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed:
and the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.
10-10:6 And
when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of
Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Bethrehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand
footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and
of Ishtob twelve thousand men.
10-10:7 And
when David heard of it, he sent Joab,
and all the host of the mighty men.
10-10:9 When
Joab saw that the front of the battle was against him before and behind, he
chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:
10-10:12 Be
of good courage, and let us play the men for our
people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seemeth him
good.
10-10:18 And
the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of
the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of
their host, who died there.
10-11:16 And
it came to pass, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah unto a
place where he knew that valiant men were.
10-11:17 And
the men of the city went out, and fought with
Joab: and there fell some of the
people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.
10-11:23 And
the messenger said unto David, Surely the men
prevailed against us, and came out unto us into the field, and we were upon
them even unto the entering of the gate.
10-12:1 And
the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There
were two men in one city; the one rich, and the
other poor.
10-13:9 And
she took a pan, and poured them out
before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him.
10-13:32 And
Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David’s brother, answered and said, Let not my lord
suppose that they have slain all the
young men the king’s sons; for Amnon only is
dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day
that he forced his sister Tamar.
10-15:1 And
it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses, and
fifty men to run before him.
10-15:6 And
on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so
Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
10-15:11 And
with Absalom went two hundred men out of
Jerusalem, that were called; and they
went in their simplicity, and they knew not any thing.
10-15:13 And
there came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.
10-15:18 And
all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the
Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men
which came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.
10-15:22 And
David said to Ittai, Go and pass over. And Ittai the Gittite passed over, and
all his men, and all the little ones that were with him.
10-16:2 And
the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king’s household to ride on;
and the bread and summer fruit for the young men
to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.
10-16:6 And
he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the
people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
10-16:13 And
as David and his men went by the way, Shimei
went along on the hill’s side over against him, and cursed as he went, and
threw stones at him, and cast dust.
10-16:15 And
Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel,
came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
10-16:18 And
Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him
will I abide.
10-17:1 Moreover
Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this
night:
10-17:8 For,
said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men,
that they be mighty men, and they be
chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy
father is a man of war, and will not
lodge with the people.
10-17:10 And
he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly
melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which
be with him are valiant men.
10-17:12 So
shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light
upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with
him there shall not be left so much as one.
10-17:14 And
Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The
counsel of Hushai the Archite is better
than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good
counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon
Absalom.
10-17:24 Then
David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
10-18:7 Where
the people of Israel were slain before the servants of David, and there was
there a great slaughter that day of twenty thousand men.
10-18:15 And
ten young men that bare Joab’s armour compassed
about and smote Absalom, and slew him.
10-18:28 And
Ahimaaz called, and said unto the king, All is well. And he fell down to the
earth upon his face before the king, and said, Blessed be the LORD thy God, which hath delivered up the men that lifted up their hand against my lord the
king.
10-19:14 And
he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even
as the heart of one man; so that they
sent this word unto the king, Return
thou, and all thy servants.
10-19:16 And
Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite, which was
of Bahurim, hasted and came down with the men
of Judah to meet king David.
10-19:17 And
there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the
house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they
went over Jordan before the king.
10-19:28 For
all of my father’s house were but
dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou
set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore
have I yet to cry any more unto the king?
10-19:35 I
am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil?
can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice
of singing men and singing women? wherefore then
should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?
10-19:41 And,
behold, all the men of Israel came to the king,
and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men
of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and
all David’s men with him, over Jordan?
10-19:42 And
all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter?
have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or
hath he given us any gift?
10-19:43 And
the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king,
and we have also more right in David
than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in
bringing back our king? And the words of the men
of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men
of Israel.
10-20:2 So
every man of Israel went up from after David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri: but the men of Judah clave unto their king, from Jordan even to
Jerusalem.
10-20:4 Then
said the king to Amasa, Assemble me the men of
Judah within three days, and be thou here present.
10-20:5 So
Amasa went to assemble the men of Judah: but he tarried longer than the set
time which he had appointed him.
10-20:7 And
there went out after him Joab’s men, and the
Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men:
and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
10-20:11 And
one of Joab’s men stood by him, and said, He
that favoureth Joab, and he that is for
David, let him go after Joab.
10-21:6 Let
seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and
we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.
10-21:12 And
David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from

Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed
him. Then the men of David sware unto him,
saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the
light of Israel.
10-22:5 When
the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men
made me afraid;
10-23:3 The
God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just,
ruling in the fear of God.

be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the
seat, chief among the captains; the same was

spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo
the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to
battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

the three mighty men brake through the host of
the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it
out unto the LORD.
10-23:17 And
he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men
that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These
things did these three mighty men.
10-23:20 And
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done
many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went
down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:
10-23:22 These
things did Benaiah the son of
Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.
10-24:9 And
Joab gave up the sum of the number of the people unto the king: and there were
in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men
that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.
10-24:15 So
the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time
appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy
thousand men.
11-1:5 Then
Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he
prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men
to run before him.
11-1:8 But
Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and
Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with
Adonijah.
11-1:9 And
Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by Enrogel, and called all his
brethren the king’s sons, and all the men of
Judah the king’s servants:
11-1:10 But
Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men,
and Solomon his brother, he called not.
11-2:32 And
the LORD shall return his blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them
with the sword, my father David not knowing thereof,
to wit, Abner the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Amasa the
son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.
11-4:31 For
he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the
Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame
was in all nations round about.
11-5:13 And
king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.
11-8:2 And
all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto
king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.
11-8:39 Then
hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every
man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of
all the children of men;)
11-9:22 But
of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondmen: but they were men
of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his
chariots, and his horsemen.
11-10:8 Happy
are thy men,
happy are these thy servants, which
stand continually before thee, and that
hear thy wisdom.
11-11:18 And
they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt,
unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him
victuals, and gave him land.
11-11:24 And
he gathered men unto him, and became captain
over a band, when David slew them of
Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in
Damascus.
11-12:6 And
king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that
stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise
that I may answer this people?
11-12:8 But
he forsook the counsel of the old men, which
they had given him, and consulted with the young men
that were grown up with him, and which
stood before him:
11-12:10 And
the young men that were grown up with him spake
unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee,
saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s
loins.
11-12:14 And
spake to them after the counsel of the young men,
saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I
will chastise you with scorpions.
11-12:21 And
when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with
the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house
of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
11-13:25 And,
behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast
in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet
dwelt.
11-18:13 Was
it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how
I hid an hundred men of the Lord’s prophets by
fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?
11-18:22 Then
said Elijah unto the people, I, even I
only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men.
11-20:14 And
Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes
of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered,
Thou.
11-20:15 Then
he numbered the young men of the princes of the
provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty two: and after them he numbered
all the people, even all the children
of Israel, being seven thousand.
11-20:17 And
the young men of the princes of the provinces
went out first; and Benhadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.
11-20:19 So
these young men of the princes of the provinces
came out of the city, and the army which followed them.
11-20:30 But
the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and there
a wall fell upon twenty and seven thousand of the men
that were left. And Benhadad fled,
and came into the city, into an inner chamber.
11-20:33 Now
the men did diligently observe whether any thing would come from him, and did
hastily catch it: and they said, Thy
brother Benhadad. Then he said, Go ye, bring him. Then Benhadad came forth to
him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.
11-21:10 And
set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear
witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that
he may die.
11-21:11 And
the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his
city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and
as it was written in the letters
which she had sent unto them.

there came in two men, children of Belial, and
sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed
against him, even against Naboth, in
the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then
they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he
died.

the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against
Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord
shall deliver it into the hand of the
king.

stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.

they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master:
lest peradventure the spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon
some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore
fifty men; and they sought three days, but found
him not.

the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I
pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant,
as my lord seeth: but the water is nought,
and the ground barren.

when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with
him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break
through even unto the king of Edom:
but they could not.

she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man
of God, and come again.
12-4:40 So
they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to
pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof.

his servitor said, What, should I set this before an hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may
eat: for thus saith the LORD, They shall eat, and shall leave thereof.

he said, All is well. My master hath
sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two
young men of the sons of the prophets: give
them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.

when he came to the tower, he took them from
their hand, and bestowed them in the
house: and he let the men go, and they departed.
12-6:20 And
it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open
the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and
they saw; and, behold, they were in
the midst of Samaria.
12-7:3 And
there were four leprous men at the entering in of
the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
12-8:12 And
Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that
thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on
fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with
the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.
12-10:6 Then
he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If ye be mine, and if ye will
hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men
your master’s sons, and come to me to Jezreel by to morrow this time. Now the
king’s sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, which brought them up.
12-10:11 So
Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his kinsfolks, and his priests, until he left
him none remaining.
12-10:14 And
he said, Take them alive. And they took them alive, and slew them at the pit of
the shearing house, even two and
forty men; neither left he any of them.
12-10:24 And
when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed
fourscore men without, and said, If any of the men
whom I have brought into your hands escape, he
that letteth him go, his life shall
be for the life of him.
12-11:9 And
the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man
his men that were to come in on the sabbath,
with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
12-12:15 Moreover
they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand
they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.
12-13:21 And
it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and
they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down,
and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
12-15:20 And
Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even
of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man
fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria
turned back, and stayed not there in the land.
12-15:25 But
Pekah the son of Remaliah, a captain of his, conspired against him, and smote
him in Samaria, in the palace of the king’s house, with Argob and Arieh, and
with him fifty men of the Gileadites: and he
killed him, and reigned in his room.
12-17:24 And
the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava,
and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel:
and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.

the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,

Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to

came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah
said, They are come from a far country, even
from Babylon.

great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant
which was found in the house of the LORD.

the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate
between two walls, which is by the
king’s garden: (now the Chaldees were against

the way toward the plain.

out of the city he took an officer that was set over the men of war, and five men
of them that were in the king’s presence, which were found in the city, and the
principal scribe of the host, which mustered the people of the land, and
threescore men of the people of the land that were found in the city:

when all the captains of the armies, they and their men,
heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, there came to
Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of
Careah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the
son of a Maachathite, they and their men.

Gedaliah sware to them, and to their men, and said
unto them, Fear not to be the servants of the Chaldees: dwell in the land, and
serve the king of Babylon; and it shall be well with you.

it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the
son of Elishama, of the seed royal, came, and ten men
with him, and smote Gedaliah, that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldees that
were with him at Mizpah.

of Rechah.

went to mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and
Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.

sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear
buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven
hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.

they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two
hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand.
13-5:24 And
these were the heads of the house of
their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and
Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valour,
famous men, and
heads of the house of their fathers.
13-7:2 And
the sons of Tola; Uzzi, and Rephaiah, and Jeriel, and Jahmai, and Jibsam, and

wit, of Tola: they were valiant men of might in their generations; whose number was in the days of David two and twenty

with them, by their generations, after the house of their fathers, were bands of soldiers for war, six and

for they had many wives and sons.

their brethren among all the families of Issachar were valiant men of might, reckoned
in all by their genealogies fourscore and seven thousand.

the sons of Bela; Ezbon, and Uzzi, and Uzziel, and Jerimoth, and Iri, five;
heads of the house of their fathers,
mighty men of valour; and were reckoned by their
genealogies twenty and two thousand and thirty and four.

the number of them, after their genealogy by their generations, heads of the
house of their fathers, mighty men of valour, was twenty thousand and two hundred.
13-7:11 All
these the sons of Jediael, by the heads of their fathers, mighty men of valour, were
seventeen thousand and two hundred soldiers,
fit to go out for war and battle.
13-7:21 And
Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son, and Ezer, and Elead, whom the men of Gath that
were born in that land slew,
because they came down to take away their cattle.
13-7:40 All
these were the children of Asher,
heads of their father’s house, choice
and mighty men
of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of
them that were apt to the war and to
battle was twenty and six thousand men.
13-8:28 These
were heads of the fathers, by their
generations, chief men. These dwelt in Jerusalem.
13-8:40 And
the sons of Ulam were mighty men of valour,
archers, and had many sons, and sons’ sons, an hundred and fifty. All these are of the sons of Benjamin.
13-9:9 And
their brethren, according to their generations, nine hundred and fifty and six.
All these men were chief of the fathers in the house of their fathers.
13-9:13 And
their brethren, heads of the house of their fathers, a thousand and seven
hundred and threescore; very able men for the
work of the service of the house of God.
13-10:1 Now
the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men
of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount
Gilboa.
13-10:7 And
when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they fled,
and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled:
and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
13-10:12 They
arose, all the valiant men, and took away the
body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and
buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
13-11:10 These
also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with
him in his kingdom, and with all
Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Israel.

this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the
chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time.

said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood
of these men that have put their lives in
jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their
lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these
three mightiest.

they were among the mighty men, helpers of the war.

of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the
wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose
faces were like the faces of lions,
and were as swift as the roes upon
the mountains;
13-12:21 And
they helped David against the band of the
rovers: for they were all mighty men of valour, and were captains in the host.
13-12:25 Of
the children of Simeon, mighty men of valour for
the war, seven thousand and one hundred.
13-12:30 And
of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valour, famous throughout the house of their
fathers.
13-12:32 And
of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know
what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were
two hundred; and all their brethren were
at their commandment.
13-12:38 All
these men of war, that could keep rank, came
with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the
rest also of Israel were of one heart
to make David king.
13-16:31 Let
the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD
reigneth.
13-17:8 And
I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all
thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the
great men that are in the earth.
13-18:5 And
when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew
of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
13-19:5 Then
there went certain, and told David
how the men were served. And he sent to meet
them: for the men were greatly ashamed. And the
king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.
13-19:8 And
when David heard of it, he sent Joab,
and all the host of the mighty men.
13-19:18 But
the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which
fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the
captain of the host.
13-21:5 And
Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand
and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and
Judah was four hundred threescore and
ten thousand men that drew sword.
13-21:14 So
the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand
men.
13-22:15 Moreover
there are workmen with thee in
abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work.
13-24:4 And
there were more chief men found of the sons of
Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and thus
were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the
house of their fathers, and eight among
the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers.
13-26:6 Also
unto Shemaiah his son were sons born, that ruled throughout the house of their
father: for they were mighty men of valour.
13-26:7 The
sons of Shemaiah; Othni, and Rephael, and Obed, Elzabad, whose brethren were strong men,
Elihu, and Semachiah.
13-26:8 All
these of the sons of Obededom: they and their sons and their brethren, able men for strength for the service, were threescore and two of Obededom.
13-26:9 And
Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, strong men,
eighteen.
13-26:12 Among
these were the divisions of the
porters, even among the chief men, having wards
one against another, to minister in the house of the LORD.
13-26:30 And of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his
brethren, men of valour, a thousand and seven
hundred, were officers among them of
Israel on this side Jordan westward in all the business of the LORD, and in the
service of the king.
13-26:31 Among
the Hebronites was Jerijah the chief,
even among the Hebronites, according
to the generations of his fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David
they were sought for, and there were found among them mighty men of valour at Jazer of Gilead.
13-26:32 And
his brethren, men of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred
chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites,
and the half tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs
of the king.
13-28:1 And
David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the
captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the
captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards
over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the
officers, and with the mighty men, and with all
the valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
13-29:24 And
all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the
sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.
14-2:2 And
Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men
to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three
thousand and six hundred to oversee them.
14-2:7 Send
me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and
in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with
the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did
provide.
14-2:14 The
son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in
brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen,
and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every
device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men,
and with the cunning men of my lord David thy
father.
14-5:3 Wherefore
all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto
the king in the feast which was in
the seventh month.
14-6:18 But
will God in very deed dwell with men on the
earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much
less this house which I have built!
14-6:30 Then
hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every
man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only
knowest the hearts of the children of men:)
14-8:9 But
of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men
of war, and chief of his captains, and captains of his chariots and horsemen.

14-10:8 But
he forsook the counsel which the old men gave
him, and took counsel with the young men that
were brought up with him, that stood before him.

the young men that were brought up with him
spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou answer the people that spake unto thee,
saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it somewhat lighter for us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My
little finger shall be thicker than
my father’s loins.
14-10:13 And
the king answered them roughly; and king Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the
old men,
14-10:14 And
answered them after the advice of the young men,
saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add thereto: my father
chastised you with whips, but I will
chastise you with scorpions.
14-11:1 And
when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and
Benjamin an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight
against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
14-13:3 And
Abijah set the battle in array with an army of valiant men
of war, even four hundred thousand
chosen men: Jeroboam also set the battle in
array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men,
being mighty men
of valour.
14-13:7 And
there are gathered unto him vain men, the
children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son
of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand
them.
14-13:15 Then
the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote
Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
14-13:17 And
Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down
slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.
14-14:8 And
Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah
three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows,
two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.
14-17:13 And
he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men
of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.
14-17:14 And
these are the numbers of them
according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands;
Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour
three hundred thousand.

next him was Amasiah the son of
Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred
thousand mighty men of valour.
14-17:17 And
of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
14-18:5 Therefore
the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead
to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king’s hand.
14-22:1 And
the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his stead:
for the band of men that came with the Arabians
to the camp had slain all the eldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of
Judah reigned.
14-23:8 So
the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest
had commanded, and took every man his men that
were to come in on the sabbath, with them that were to go out on the sabbath: for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the
courses.
14-24:24 For
the army of the Syrians came with a small company of men,
and the LORD delivered a very great host into their hand, because they had
forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. So they executed judgment against
Joash.
14-25:5 Moreover
Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and
captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered
them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand
choice men,
able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.
14-25:6 He
hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of
valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver.
14-26:11 Moreover
Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went
out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of
Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.
14-26:12 The
whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men
of valour were two thousand and six
hundred.
14-26:15 And
he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men,
to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones
withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he
was strong.
14-26:17 And
Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the
LORD, that were valiant men:
14-28:6 For
Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one
day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their
fathers.
14-28:14 So
the armed men left the captives and the spoil
before the princes and all the congregation.
14-28:15 And
the men which were expressed by name rose up, and
took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them,
and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and
anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them
to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to
Samaria.
14-31:19 Also
of the sons of Aaron the priests, which
were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city,
the men that were expressed by name, to give
portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by
genealogies among the Levites.
14-32:3 He
took counsel with his princes and his mighty men
to stop the waters of the fountains which were
without the city: and they did help him.
14-32:21 And
the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men
of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So
he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the
house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with
the sword.
14-34:12 And
the men did the work faithfully: and the
overseers of them were Jahath and
Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of
the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward;

commandment shall be given from me.

asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the

I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building
of this house of God: that of the king’s goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given
unto these men, that they be not hindered.

hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before
all the king’s mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the LORD
my God was upon me, and I gathered
together out of Israel chief men to go up with
me.
15-8:16 Then
sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib,
and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.
15-10:1 Now
when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself
down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very
great congregation of men and women and
children: for the people wept very sore.
15-10:9 Then
all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered
themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house
of God, trembling because of this matter,
and for the great rain.

neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men
of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that every one put them off for
washing.

now our flesh is as the flesh of our
brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our
sons and our daughters to be servants, and some
of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in
our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with
understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.

he read therein before the street that was
before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand;
and the ears of all the people were
attentive unto the book of the law.

the people blessed all the men, that willingly
offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

the sons of Perez that dwelt at Jerusalem were
four hundred threescore and eight valiant men.

Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom
thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely

in Shushan the palace the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men.

the king said unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five
hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten
sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces? now

the Jews that were in Shushan gathered

21-2:8 I
gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the
provinces: I gat me men singers and women
singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all
sorts.
21-3:10 I
have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
21-3:14 I
know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to
it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
21-3:18 I
said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that
they themselves are beasts.
21-3:19 For
that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth
beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other;
yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast:
for all is vanity.
21-6:1 There
is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men:
21-7:2 It is better to go to the house of
mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living
will lay it to his heart.
21-7:19 Wisdom
strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city.
21-8:11 Because
sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of
the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
21-8:14 There
is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto
whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to
whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also
is vanity.
21-9:3 This
is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that
there is one event unto all: yea,
also the heart of the sons of men is full of
evil, and madness is in their heart
while they live, and after that they go to
the dead.
21-9:11 I
returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet
bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of
understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill;
but time and chance happeneth to them all.
21-9:12 For
man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and
as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an
evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
21-9:14 There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it,
and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:
21-9:17 The
words of wise men
are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.
21-12:3 In
the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease
because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,
22-3:7 Behold
his bed, which is Solomon’s;
threescore valiant men are about it, of the valiant of Israel.
22-4:4 Thy
neck is like the tower of David
builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of
mighty men.
23-2:11 The
lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be
exalted in that day.
23-2:17 And
the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be
exalted in that day.
23-3:25 Thy
men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in
the war.
23-5:3 And
now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of
Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
23-5:7 For
the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the
house of Israel, and the men of Judah his
pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for
righteousness, but behold a cry.
23-5:13 Therefore
my people are gone into captivity, because they
have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up
with thirst.
23-5:22 Woe
unto them that are mighty to drink
wine, and men of strength to mingle strong
drink:
23-6:12 And
the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst
of the land.
23-7:13 And
he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is
it a small thing for you to weary men, but
will ye weary my God also?
23-7:24 With
arrows and with bows shall men come thither; because all the land shall
become briers and thorns.
23-9:3 Thou
hast multiplied the nation, and not
increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the
spoil.
23-9:17 Therefore
the Lord shall have no joy in their young men,
neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and
every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his
hand is stretched out still.
23-11:15 And
the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his
mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the
seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.
23-13:18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the
fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.
23-19:12 Where
are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know
what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.
23-21:9 And,
behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered
and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods
he hath broken unto the ground.
23-21:17 And
the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men
of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath
spoken it.
23-22:2 Thou
that art full of stirs, a tumultuous city, a joyous city: thy slain men are not
slain with the sword, nor dead in battle.
23-22:6 And
Elam bare the quiver with chariots of men and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the
shield.
23-23:4 Be
thou ashamed, O Zidon: for the sea hath spoken, even the strength of the sea, saying, I travail not, nor bring
forth children, neither do I nourish up young men,
nor bring up virgins.
23-24:6 Therefore
hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate:
therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
23-26:19 Thy
dead men shall
live, together with my dead body
shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth
shall cast out the dead.
23-28:14 Wherefore
hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that
rule this people which is in
Jerusalem.
23-29:11 And
the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which
men deliver
to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot;
for it is sealed:
23-29:13 Wherefore
the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have
removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the
precept of men:
23-29:14 Therefore,
behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for
the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their
prudent men
shall be hid.
23-29:19 The
meek also shall increase their joy in
the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice
in the Holy One of Israel.
23-31:3 Now
the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not
spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall
fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.
23-31:8 Then
shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not
of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his
young men shall be discomfited.
23-35:8 And
an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of
holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men,
though fools, shall not err therein.
23-36:12 But
Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these
words? hath he not sent me to the men
that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own
piss with you?
23-38:16 O
Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make
me to live.
23-39:3 Then
came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah
said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.
23-40:30 Even
the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men
shall utterly fall:
23-41:9 Thou whom I have taken from the ends of
the earth, and called thee from the chief men
thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my
servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
23-41:14 Fear
not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and
thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
23-43:4 Since
thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved
thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and
people for thy life.
23-44:11 Behold,
all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered
together, let them stand up; yet they
shall fear, and they shall be ashamed
together.
23-44:25 That
frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise
men backward,
and maketh their knowledge foolish;
23-45:14 Thus
saith the LORD, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the
Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee,
and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come
over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto
thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no
God.
23-45:24 Surely,
shall one say, in the LORD have I
righteousness and strength: even to
him shall men
come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.
23-46:8 Remember
this, and shew yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors.
23-51:7 Hearken
unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.
23-52:14 As
many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his
form more than the sons of men:
23-53:3 He
is despised and rejected of men; a man of
sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
23-57:1 The
righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it
to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that
the righteous is taken away from the evil to
come.
23-59:10 We
grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noon day as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.
23-60:11 Therefore
thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that
men may
bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.
23-61:6 But
ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye
shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast
yourselves.
23-64:4 For
since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear,
neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
23-66:24 And
they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men
that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall
their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
24-4:3 For
thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and
Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
24-4:4 Circumcise
yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my
fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
24-5:5 I
will get me unto the great men, and will speak
unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the
yoke, and burst the bonds.
24-5:16 Their
quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.
24-5:26 For
among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares;
they set a trap, they catch men.
24-6:11 Therefore
I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out
upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall
be taken, the aged with him that is full
of days.
24-6:23 They
shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are
cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride
upon horses, set in array as men for war against
thee, O daughter of Zion.
24-6:30 Reprobate
silver shall men
call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.
24-8:9 The
wise men are
ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the
LORD; and what wisdom is in them?
24-9:2 Oh
that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them!
for they be all adulterers, an
assembly of treacherous men.
24-9:10 For
the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of
the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass
through them; neither can men hear
the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled;
they are gone.
24-9:21 For
death is come up into our windows, and is
entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men
from the streets.
24-9:22 Speak,
Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men
shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the
harvestman, and none shall gather them.
24-10:7 Who
would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain:
forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
24-10:9 Silver
spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of
the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.
24-11:2 Hear
ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men
of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
24-11:9 And
the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men
of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
24-11:21 Therefore
thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that
seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not
by our hand:
24-11:22 Therefore
thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their
daughters shall die by famine:
24-11:23 And
there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even
the year of their visitation.
24-15:8 Their
widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them
against the mother of the young men a spoiler at
noonday: I have caused him to fall
upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.
24-15:10 Woe
is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of
contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me.
24-16:6 Both
the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried,
neither shall men
lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:
24-16:7 Neither
shall men tear
themselves for them in mourning, to
comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their
father or for their mother.
24-17:25 Then
shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon
the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes,
the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of
Jerusalem: and this city shall remain for ever.
24-18:11 Now
therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and
to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame
evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from
his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.
24-18:21 Therefore
deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let
their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put
to death; let their young men be slain
by the sword in battle.
24-19:10 Then
shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men
that go with thee.
24-26:21 And
when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men,
and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death: but
when Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt;
24-26:22 And
Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men
with him into Egypt.
24-31:13 Then
shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men
and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort
them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
24-32:19 Great
in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men:
to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his
doings:
24-32:20 Which
hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a
name, as at this day;
24-32:32 Because
of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which
they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their
priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah,
and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
24-32:44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe
evidences, and seal them, and take
witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in
the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of
the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to
return, saith the LORD.
24-33:5 They
come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it
is to fill them with the dead bodies of men,
whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I
have hid my face from this city.
24-34:18 And
I will give the men that have transgressed my
covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had
made before me, when they cut the calf in twain, and passed between the parts
thereof.
24-35:13 Thus
saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye
not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith the LORD.
24-36:31 And
I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will
bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced
against them; but they hearkened not.
24-37:10 For
though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you,
and there remained but wounded men among them, yet
should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
24-38:4 Therefore
the princes said unto the king, We beseech thee, let this man be put to death:
for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of
war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such
words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the
hurt.
24-38:9 My
lord the king, these men have done evil in all
that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the
dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for there is no more bread in the city.
24-38:10 Then
the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from hence thirty men with thee, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of
the dungeon, before he die.
24-38:11 So
Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into
the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and
old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.
24-38:16 So
Zedekiah the king sware secretly unto Jeremiah, saying, As the LORD liveth, that made us this soul, I will not put thee to
death, neither will I give thee into the hand of these men
that seek thy life.
24-39:4 And
it came to pass, that when Zedekiah
the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of
war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the
king’s garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of
the plain.
24-39:17 But
I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given
into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.
24-40:7 Now
when all the captains of the forces which were
in the fields, even they and
their men, heard that the king of Babylon had
made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto
him men, and women, and children, and of the
poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;
24-40:8 Then
they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan
and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons
of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and
their men.
24-40:9 And
Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in
the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
24-41:1 Now
it came to pass in the seventh month, that
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and
the princes of the king, even ten men with him,
came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they did eat bread
together in Mizpah.
24-41:2 Then
arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men
that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan
with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over
the land.
24-41:3 Ishmael
also slew all the Jews that were with him, even
with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans that were found there, and the men
of war.
24-41:5 That
there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men,
having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves,
with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.
24-41:7 And
it was so, when they came into the
midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit,
he, and the men that were with him.
24-41:8 But
ten men were found among them that said unto
Ishmael, Slay us not: for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of
barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he forbare, and slew them not among their
brethren.
24-41:9 Now
the pit wherein Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which Asa the king had made for
fear of Baasha king of Israel: and Ishmael
the son of Nethaniah filled it with them
that were slain.
24-41:12 Then
they took all the men, and went to fight with
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon.
24-41:15 But
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.
24-41:16 Then
took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the remnant of the
people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah,
after that he had slain Gedaliah the
son of Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the
eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon:
24-42:17 So
shall it be with all the men that set their faces
to go into Egypt to sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by the famine,
and by the pestilence: and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil
that I will bring upon them.
24-43:2 Then
spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the
proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest
falsely: the LORD our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to
sojourn there:
24-43:6 Even men,
and women, and children, and the king’s daughters, and every person that
Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam
the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah.
24-43:9 Take
great stones in thine hand, and hide them in the clay in the brickkiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh’s house in
Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;
24-44:15 Then
all the men which knew that their wives had
burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude,
even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered
Jeremiah, saying,
24-44:19 And
when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings
unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings
unto her, without our men?
24-44:20 Then
Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men,
and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,
24-44:27 Behold,
I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are
in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine,
until there be an end of them.
24-46:9 Come
up, ye horses; and rage, ye chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that
handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.
24-46:15 Why
are thy valiant men
swept away? they stood not, because the LORD did drive them.
24-46:21 Also
her hired men are in the midst of her like fatted bullocks; for they also are turned
back, and are fled away together:
they did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them, and the time of their visitation.
24-47:2 Thus
saith the LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an
overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the
city, and them that dwell therein: then the men
shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl.
24-48:14 How
say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war?
24-48:15 Moab
is spoiled, and gone up out of her
cities, and his chosen young men are gone down
to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
24-48:31 Therefore
will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine heart shall mourn for the men
of Kirheres.
24-48:36 Therefore
mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like
pipes for the men of Kirheres: because the
riches that he hath gotten are
perished.
24-49:15 For,
lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among men.
24-49:22 Behold,
he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at
that day shall the heart of the mighty men of
Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
24-49:26 Therefore
her young men shall fall in her streets, and all
the men of war shall be cut off in that day,
saith the LORD of hosts.
24-49:28 Concerning
Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of
Babylon shall smite, thus saith the LORD; Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and spoil
the men of the east.
24-50:30 Therefore
shall her young men fall in the streets, and all
her men of war shall be cut off in that day,

LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying,
Surely I will fill thee with men, as with
caterpillars; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.
24-51:30 The
mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight,
they have remained in their holds:
their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her
dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.
24-51:32 And
that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and
the men of war are affrighted.
24-51:56 Because
the spoiler is come upon her, even upon
Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one
of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompenses shall surely requite.
24-51:57 And
I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not
wake, saith the King, whose name is the
LORD of hosts.
24-52:7 Then
the city was broken up, and all the men of war
fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between
the two walls, which was by the
king’s garden; (now the Chaldeans were by
the city round about:) and they went by the way of the plain.
24-52:13 And
burned the house of the LORD, and the king’s house; and all the houses of
Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, burned he with fire:
24-52:25 He
took also out of the city an eunuch, which had the charge of the men of war; and seven men
of them that were near the king’s person, which were found in the city; and the
principal scribe of the host, who mustered the people of the land; and
threescore men of the people of the land, that
were found in the midst of the city.
25-1:15 The
Lord hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly
against me to crush my young men: the Lord hath
trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as
in a winepress.
25-1:18 The
LORD is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray
you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.
25-2:15 All
that pass by clap their hands at
thee; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men call
The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?
25-2:21 The
young and the old lie on the ground in the streets: my virgins and my young men are fallen by the sword; thou hast slain them in the day of thine anger; thou
hast killed, and not pitied.
25-3:33 For
he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
25-4:14 They
have wandered as blind men in the
streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.
25-5:13 They
took the young men to grind, and the children
fell under the wood.
25-5:14 The
elders have ceased from the gate, the young men
from their musick.
26-6:4 And
your altars shall be desolate, and your images shall be broken: and I will cast
down your slain men
before your idols.
26-6:13 Then
shall ye know that I am the LORD,
when their slain men
shall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill,
in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every
thick oak, the place where they did offer sweet savour to all their idols.
26-8:11 And
there stood before them seventy men of the ancients
of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of
Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense
went up.
26-8:16 And
he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’S house, and, behold, at the
door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD,
and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.
26-9:2 And,
behold, six men came from the way of the higher
gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his
hand; and one man among them was clothed
with linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood
beside the brasen altar.
26-9:4 And
the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of
Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men
that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst
thereof.
26-9:6 Slay
utterly old and young, both maids,
and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary.
Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
26-11:1 Moreover
the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD’S house,
which looketh eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and
Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.
26-11:2 Then
said he unto me, Son of man, these are the
men that devise mischief, and give wicked
counsel in this city:
26-11:15 Son
of man, thy brethren, even thy
brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the
house of Israel wholly, are they unto
whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the LORD: unto us
is this land given in possession.
26-12:16 But
I will leave a few men of them from the sword,
from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may declare all their
abominations among the heathen whither they come; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
26-14:3 Son
of man, these men have set up their idols in
their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face:
should I be enquired of at all by them?
26-14:14 Though
these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in
it, they should deliver but their own
souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.
26-14:16 Though these three men were in
it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD,
they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered,
but the land shall be desolate.
26-14:18 Though
these three men were in it, as I live,
saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they
only shall be delivered themselves.
26-15:3 Shall
wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any
vessel thereon?
26-16:17 Thou
hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given
thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst
commit whoredom with them,
26-19:3 And
she brought up one of her whelps: it became a young lion, and it learned to
catch the prey; it devoured men.
26-19:6 And
he went up and down among the lions, he became a young lion, and learned to
catch the prey, and devoured men.
26-21:14 Thou
therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thine
hands together, and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of
the slain: it is the sword of the
great men
that are slain, which entereth into their privy chambers.
26-21:31 And
I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the
fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, and skilful
to destroy.
26-22:9 In
thee are men that carry tales to shed blood: and
in thee they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit lewdness.
26-23:6 Which were clothed with blue, captains
and rulers, all of them desirable young men,
horsemen riding upon horses.
26-23:7 Thus
she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them that were the chosen men of Assyria,
and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols she defiled herself.
26-23:12 She
doted upon the Assyrians her neighbours,
captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of
them desirable young men.
26-23:14 And
that she increased her whoredoms: for
when she saw men pourtrayed upon the wall, the
images of the Chaldeans pourtrayed with vermilion,
26-23:23 The
Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of
them desirable young men, captains and rulers,
great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses.
26-23:40 And
furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come
from far, unto whom a messenger was sent;
and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and
deckedst thyself with ornaments,
26-23:42 And
a voice of a multitude being at ease was with
her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the
wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon
their heads.
26-23:45 And
the righteous men, they shall judge them after
the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood;
because they are adulteresses, and
blood is in their hands.
26-24:17 Forbear
to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee,
and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.
26-24:22 And
ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
26-25:4 Behold,
therefore I will deliver thee to the men of the
east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in thee, and make their
dwellings in thee: they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk.
26-25:10 Unto
the men of the east with the Ammonites, and will
give them in possession, that the Ammonites may not be remembered among the
nations.
26-26:10 By
reason of the abundance of his horses their dust shall cover thee: thy walls shall
shake at the noise of the horsemen, and of the wheels, and of the chariots,
when he shall enter into thy gates, as men enter
into a city wherein is made a breach.
26-26:17 And
they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How art thou destroyed,
that wast inhabited of seafaring men, the renowned city, which wast strong in the sea,
she and her inhabitants, which cause their terror to be on all that haunt it!
26-27:8 The
inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots.
26-27:9 The
ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the
ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy merchandise.
26-27:10 They
of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee;
they set forth thy comeliness.
26-27:11 The
men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and the
Gammadims were in thy towers: they hanged their shields upon thy walls round
about; they have made thy beauty perfect.
26-27:13 Javan,
Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy
merchants: they traded the persons of men and
vessels of brass in thy market.
26-27:15 The
men of Dedan were
thy merchants; many isles were the
merchandise of thine hand: they brought thee for a present horns of ivory and ebony.
26-27:27 Thy
riches, and thy fairs, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy
calkers, and the occupiers of thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are
in thee, and in all thy company which is
in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of
thy ruin.
26-30:5 Ethiopia,
and Libya, and Lydia, and all the mingled people, and Chub, and the men of the land that is in league, shall fall with
them by the sword.
26-30:17 The
young men of Aven and of Pibeseth shall fall by
the sword: and these cities shall go
into captivity.
26-31:14 To
the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height,
neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up
in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death,
to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
26-34:31 And
ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are
men, and
I am your God, saith the Lord
GOD.
26-35:8 And
I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all
thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword.
26-36:10 And
I will multiply men upon you, all the house of
Israel, even all of it: and the
cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be builded:
26-36:12 Yea,
I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall
possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more
henceforth bereave them of men.
26-36:13 Thus
saith the Lord GOD; Because they say unto you, Thou land devourest up men, and hast
bereaved thy nations;
26-36:14 Therefore
thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave
thy nations any more, saith the Lord GOD.
26-36:15 Neither
will I cause men
to hear in thee the shame of the heathen any more, neither shalt thou bear
the reproach of the people any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nations to
fall any more, saith the Lord GOD.
26-36:37 Thus
saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this
be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men
like a flock.
26-36:38 As
the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the
waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and
they shall know that I am the LORD.
26-38:20 So
that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the
field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon
the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be
thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the
ground.
26-39:14 And
they shall sever out men of continual
employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that
remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months
shall they search.
26-39:20 Thus
ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men
of war, saith the Lord GOD.
26-47:15 And
this shall be the border of the land
toward the north side, from the great sea, the way of Hethlon, as men go to Zedad;
27-2:12 For
this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all
the wise men
of Babylon.
27-2:13 And
the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and
his fellows to be slain.
27-2:14 Then
Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king’s
guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:
27-2:18 That
they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that
Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of
Babylon.
27-2:24 Therefore
Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of
Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of
Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the
interpretation.
27-2:27 Daniel
answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath
demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the
soothsayers, shew unto the king;
27-2:38 And
wheresoever the children of men dwell, the
beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand,
and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
27-2:43 And
whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves
with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave
one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
27-2:48 Then
the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him
ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all
the wise men
of Babylon.
27-3:12 There
are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of
Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men,
O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden
image which thou hast set up.
27-3:13 Then
Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury
commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.
27-3:20 And
he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
27-3:21 Then
these men were bound in their coats, their
hosen, and their hats, and their other garments,
and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
27-3:22 Therefore
because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the
flame of the fire slew those men that took up
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
27-3:23 And
these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,
fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
27-3:24 Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his
counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound
into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
27-3:25 He
answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose,
walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the
fourth is like the Son of God.
27-3:27 And
the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being
gathered together, saw these men, upon whose
bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither
were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
27-4:6 Therefore
made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make
known unto me the interpretation of the dream.
27-4:17 This
matter is by the decree of the
watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the
living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth
up over it the basest of men.
27-4:18 This
dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation
thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto
me the interpretation: but thou art able;
for the spirit of the holy gods is in
thee.
27-4:25 That
they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling
shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as
oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall
pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
27-4:32 And
they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling
shall be with the beasts of the
field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass
over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
27-4:33 The
same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet
with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.
27-5:7 The
king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the
soothsayers. And the king spake, and
said to the wise men
of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the
interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler
in the kingdom.
27-5:8 Then
came in all the king’s wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make
known to the king the interpretation thereof.
27-5:15 And
now the wise men,
the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this
writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not
shew the interpretation of the thing:
27-5:21 And
he was driven from the sons of men; and his
heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his
body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled
in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.
27-6:5 Then
said these men, We shall not find any occasion
against this Daniel, except we find it against
him concerning the law of his God.
27-6:11 Then
these men assembled, and found Daniel praying
and making supplication before his God.
27-6:15 Then
these men assembled unto the king, and said unto
the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the
king establisheth may be changed.
27-6:24 And
the king commanded, and they brought those men
which had accused Daniel, and they cast them
into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions
had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came
at the bottom of the den.
27-6:26 I
make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men
tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and
his dominion shall be even unto the
end.
27-9:7 O
Lord, righteousness belongeth unto
thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and
unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the
countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they
have trespassed against thee.
27-10:7 And
I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that
were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that
they fled to hide themselves.
27-10:16 And,
behold, one like the similitude of
the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened
my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the
vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.
28-6:7 But
they like men have transgressed the covenant:
there have they dealt treacherously against me.
28-10:13 Ye
have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies:
because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
28-13:2 And
now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own
understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.
29-1:2 Hear
this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye
inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of
your fathers?
29-1:12 The
vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm
tree also, and the apple tree, even all
the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the
sons of men.
29-2:7 They
shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the
wall like men of war; and they shall march every
one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:
29-2:28 And
it shall come to pass afterward, that I
will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your
young men shall see visions:
29-3:9 Proclaim
ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of
war draw near; let them come up:
30-2:11 And
I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is
it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.
30-4:10 I
have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your
horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils:
yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
30-6:9 And
it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men
in one house, that they shall die.
30-8:13 In
that day shall the fair virgins and young men
faint for thirst.
31-1:7 All
the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a
wound under thee: there is none
understanding in him.
31-1:8 Shall
I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding
out of the mount of Esau?
31-1:9 And
thy mighty men,
O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau
may be cut off by slaughter.
32-1:10 Then
were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto
him, Why hast thou done this? For the men knew
that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them.
32-1:13 Nevertheless
the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was
tempestuous against them.
32-1:16 Then
the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered
a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.
33-2:8 Even
of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the
garment from them that pass by securely as men
averse from war.
33-2:12 I
will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of
Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the
midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.
33-5:5 And
this man shall be the peace, when the
Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then
shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
33-5:7 And
the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the
LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for
the sons of men.
33-6:12 For
the rich men thereof are full of violence, and
the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
33-7:2 The
good man is perished out of the
earth: and there is none upright
among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they
hunt every man his brother with a net.
33-7:6 For
the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the
daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.
34-2:3 The
shield of his mighty men is made red, the
valiant men are
in scarlet: the chariots shall be with
flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be
terribly shaken.
34-3:10 Yet
was she carried away, she went into captivity:
her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets:
and they cast lots for her honourable men, and
all her great men were bound in chains.
35-1:14 And
makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the
creeping things, that have no ruler
over them?
36-1:12 And
it shall come to pass at that time, that I
will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men
that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good,
neither will he do evil.
36-1:17 And
I will bring distress upon men, that they shall
walk like blind men, because they have sinned
against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh
as the dung.
36-2:11 The
LORD will be terrible unto them: for
he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one
from his place, even all the isles of
the heathen.
37-1:11 And
I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn,
and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the
hands.
38-2:4 And
said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited
as towns without walls for the
multitude of men and cattle therein:
38-3:8 Hear
now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for
they are men

38-7:2 When
they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regemmelech, and their men, to pray before the LORD,
38-7:7 Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets,
when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round
about her, when men
inhabited the south and the plain?
38-8:4 Thus
saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men
and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff
in his hand for very age.
38-8:10 For
before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out
or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men
every one against his neighbour.
38-8:23 Thus
saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it
shall come to pass, that ten men shall take
hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of
him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
38-9:17 For
how great is his goodness, and how
great is his beauty! corn shall make
the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.
38-10:5 And
they shall be as mighty men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle: and they
shall fight, because the LORD is with
them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.
38-11:6 For
I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD: but, lo, I
will deliver the men every one into his
neighbour’s hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall smite the land,
and out of their hand I will not deliver them.
38-14:11 And
men shall
dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall
be safely inhabited.
40-2:1 Now
when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king,
behold, there came wise men from the east to
Jerusalem,
40-2:7 Then
Herod, when he had privily called the wise men,
enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
40-2:16 Then
Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men,
was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in
Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under,
according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
40-4:19 And
he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
40-5:11 Blessed
are ye, when men
shall revile you, and persecute you, and
shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
40-5:13 Ye
are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith
shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and
to be trodden under foot of men.
40-5:15 Neither
do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel,
but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
40-5:16 Let
your light so shine before men, that they may
see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
40-5:19 Whosoever
therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of
heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them,
the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
40-6:1 Take
heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be
seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
40-6:2 Therefore
when thou doest thine alms, do not
sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the
streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily
I say unto you, They have their reward.
40-6:5 And
when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the
corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.
Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
40-6:14 For
if ye forgive men their trespasses, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you:
40-6:15 But
if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither
will your Father forgive your trespasses.
40-6:16 Moreover
when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they
disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men
to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
40-6:18 That
thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy
Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward
thee openly.
40-7:12 Therefore
all things whatsoever ye would that men should
do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
40-7:16 Ye
shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather
grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
40-8:27 But
the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is
this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
40-9:8 But
when the multitude saw it, they marvelled,
and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.
40-9:17 Neither
do men put new wine into old bottles: else the
bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put
new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.
40-9:27 And
when Jesus departed thence, two blind men
followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son
of David, have mercy on us.
40-9:28 And
when he was come into the house, the blind men
came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this?
They said unto him, Yea, Lord.
40-10:17 But
beware of men: for they will deliver you up to
the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;
40-10:22 And
ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to
the end shall be saved.
40-10:32 Whosoever
therefore shall confess me before men, him will
I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
40-10:33 But
whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I
also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
40-12:31 Wherefore
I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost
shall not be forgiven unto men.
40-12:36 But
I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall
speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
40-12:41 The
men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this
generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of
Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is
here.
40-13:17 For
verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not
seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not
heard them.
40-13:25 But
while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares
among the wheat, and went his way.
40-14:21 And
they that had eaten were about five thousand men,
beside women and children.
40-14:35 And
when the men of that place had knowledge of him,
they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that
were diseased;
40-15:9 But
in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines
the commandments of men.

they that did eat were four thousand men, beside
women and children.
40-16:13 When
Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,
saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man

he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence
unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of
men.
40-17:22 And
while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be
betrayed into the hands of men:
40-19:11 But
he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.
40-19:12 For
there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made
eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have
made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to
receive it, let him receive it.
40-19:26 But
Jesus beheld them, and said unto
them, With men this is impossible; but with God
all things are possible.
40-20:30 And,
behold, two blind men sitting by the way side,
when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O
Lord, thou son of David.
40-21:25 The
baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men?
And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he
will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?
40-21:26 But
if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for
all hold John as a prophet.

say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men,
and will let out his vineyard unto
other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
40-22:16 And
they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we
know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest
thou for any man: for thou regardest
not the person of men.
40-23:5 But
all their works they do for to be seen of men:
they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
40-23:7 And
greetings in the markets, and to be called of men,
Rabbi, Rabbi.
40-23:13 But
woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of
heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that
are entering to go in.
40-23:28 Even
so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men,
but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
40-23:34 Wherefore,
behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men,
and scribes: and some of them ye
shall kill and crucify; and some of
them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
40-26:33 Peter
answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.
40-28:4 And
for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
41-1:17 And
Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers

when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

from within, out of the heart of men, proceed
evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with
bread here in the wilderness?
41-8:24 And
he looked up, and said, I see men as trees,
walking.
41-8:27 And
Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by
the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
41-8:33 But
when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying,
Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God,
but the things that be of men.
41-9:31 For
he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into
the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and
after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
41-10:27 And
Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for
with God all things are possible.
41-11:30 The

not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

behold, men brought in a bed a man which was
taken with a palsy: and they sought means
to bring him in, and to lay him before
him.
42-6:22 Blessed
are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they
shall separate you from their company, and
shall reproach you, and cast out your
name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.
42-6:26 Woe
unto you, when all men shall speak well of you!
for so did their fathers to the false prophets.
42-6:31 And
as ye would that men should do to you, do ye
also to them likewise.
42-6:38 Give,
and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken
together, and running over, shall men give into
your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured
to you again.
42-6:44 For
every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men
do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
42-7:20 When
the men were come unto him, they said, John
Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look
we for another?
42-7:31 And
the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men
of this generation? and to what are they like?
42-9:14 For
they were about five thousand men. And he said
to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company.
42-9:30 And,
behold, there talked with him two men, which
were Moses and Elias:
42-9:32 But
Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were
awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that
stood with him.
42-9:44 Let
these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered
into the hands of men.
42-11:31 The
queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came
from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold,
a greater than Solomon is here.
42-11:32 The
men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with
this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of
Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is
here.
42-11:44 Woe
unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear
not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.
42-11:46 And
he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers!
for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be
borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
42-12:8 Also
I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men,
him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
42-12:9 But
he that denieth me before men shall be denied before
the angels of God.
42-12:36 And
ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their
lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh,
they may open unto him immediately.
42-12:48 But
he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with
few stripes. For unto whomsoever much
is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men
have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
42-13:4 Or
those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye
that they were sinners above all men that dwelt
in Jerusalem?
42-13:14 And
the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had
healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in
which men ought to work: in them therefore come
and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
42-14:24 For
I say unto you, That none of those men which
were bidden shall taste of my supper.
42-14:35 It
is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath
ears to hear, let him hear.
42-16:15 And
he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is
highly esteemed among men is abomination in the
sight of God.

as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the
other shall be left.

honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth

Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was
much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in
number about five thousand.

those men, when they had seen the miracle that
Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the
world.

is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men
is true.

we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come
and take away both our place and nation.

gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven,

this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the
mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took
Jesus.
44-1:21 Wherefore
of these men which have companied with us all
the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
44-1:24 And
they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew
whether of these two thou hast chosen,
44-2:5 And
there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men,
out of every nation under heaven.
44-2:13 Others
mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
44-2:14 But
Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye
men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to
my words:
44-2:17 And
it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit
upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young
men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
44-2:22 Ye
men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth,
a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God
did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
44-2:29 Men and brethren,
let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and
buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
44-2:37 Now
when they heard this, they were
pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren,
what shall we do?
44-2:45 And
sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
44-3:12 And
when Peter saw it, he answered unto
the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at
this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness
we had made this man to walk?
44-4:4 Howbeit
many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.
44-4:12 Neither
is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven
given among men, whereby we must be saved.
44-4:13 Now
when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were
unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and
they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
44-4:16 Saying,
What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a
notable miracle hath been done by them is
manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.
44-4:21 So
when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how
they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was
done.
44-5:4 Whiles
it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine
own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not
lied unto men, but unto God.
44-5:6 And
the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
44-5:10 Then
fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
44-5:14 And
believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
44-5:25 Then
came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men
whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.
44-5:29 Then
Peter and the other apostles answered
and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
44-5:35 And
said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to
yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
44-5:36 For
before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a
number of men, about four hundred, joined
themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and
brought to nought.
44-5:38 And
now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let
them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men,
it will come to nought:
44-6:3 Wherefore,
brethren, look ye out among you seven men of
honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this
business.
44-6:11 Then
they suborned men, which said, We have heard him
speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against
God.
44-7:2 And
he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken;
The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia,
before he dwelt in Charran,
44-8:2 And
devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
44-8:3 As
for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
44-8:12 But
when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God,
and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men
and women.
44-9:2 And
desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of
this way, whether they were men or women, he
might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
44-9:7 And
the men which journeyed with him stood
speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter
was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to
them.

while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold,
the men which were sent from Cornelius had made
enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
44-10:21 Then
Peter went down to the men which were sent unto
him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
44-11:3 Saying,
Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst
eat with them.
44-11:11 And,
behold, immediately there were three men already
come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
44-11:13 And
he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto
him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon,
whose surname is Peter;
44-11:20 And
some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene,
which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the
Lord Jesus.
44-13:15 And
after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent
unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren,
if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.
44-13:16 Then
Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand
said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give
audience.

days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of

entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus’ commandment Paul was
brought forth.

Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are
here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews
have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also
here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.

it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews
together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren,
though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers,
yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

shall be with them, and be their God.
