15-EZRA

15-2:59     And these were they which went up from Telmelah, Telharsa, Cherub, Addan, and Immer: but they could not shew their father’s house, and their seed, whether they were of Israel:

15-2:62     These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.

15-3:6      From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.

15-3:12     But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:

15-4:3      But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.

15-5:5      But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter.

15-5:12     But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.

15-5:13     But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.

15-8:22     For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.

15-9:9      For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.

15-10:13    But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.

16-NEHEMIAH

16-1:9      But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.

16-2:2      Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,

16-2:14     Then I went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king’s pool: but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass.

16-2:19     But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?

16-2:20     Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

16-3:3      But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

16-3:5      And next unto them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their Lord.

16-3:14     But the dung gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Bethhaccerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

16-3:15     But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king’s garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.

16-4:1      But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.

16-4:7      But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,

16-5:15     But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.

16-6:2      That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.

16-6:8      Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.

16-6:12     And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.

16-7:4      Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded.

16-7:61     And these were they which went up also from Telmelah, Telharesha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not shew their father’s house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.

16-7:64     These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.

16-9:16     But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments,

16-9:17     And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.

16-9:28     But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore leftest thou them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and many times didst thou deliver them according to thy mercies;

16-9:29     And testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.

16-9:33     Howbeit thou art just in all that is brought upon us; for thou hast done right, but we have done wickedly:

16-11:3     Now these are the chief of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem: but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in their cities, to wit, Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon’s servants.

16-11:21    But the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel: and Ziha and Gispa were over the Nethinims.

16-13:2     Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing.

16-13:6     But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king:

16-13:24    And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.

17-ESTHER

17-1:12     But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him.

17-1:16     And Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen hath not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the people that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus.

17-1:17     For this deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.

17-2:15     Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.

17-3:2      And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

17-3:15     The posts went out, being hastened by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.

17-4:4      So Esther’s maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.

17-4:11     All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.

17-4:14     For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

17-5:9      Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.

17-5:12     Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her also with the king.

17-6:12     And Mordecai came again to the king’s gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.

17-6:13     And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.

17-7:4      For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not countervail the king’s damage.

17-9:10     The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand.

17-9:15     For the Jews that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand.

17-9:16     But the other Jews that were in the king’s provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,

17-9:18     But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof, and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

17-9:25     But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

18-JOB

18-1:11     But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

18-2:5      But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.

18-2:6      And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

18-2:10     But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

18-3:9      Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

18-3:21     Which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;

18-4:2      If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?

18-4:5      But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.

18-4:16     It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,

18-5:3      I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

18-5:15     But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

18-6:1      But Job answered and said,

18-6:14     To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.

18-6:25     How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?

18-7:21     And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

18-8:9      (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)

18-8:15     He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

18-9:2      I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?

18-9:11     Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.

18-9:15     Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.

18-9:18     He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.

18-9:35     Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.

18-11:5     But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;

18-11:20    But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.

18-12:2     No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

18-12:3     But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

18-12:7     But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

18-13:4     But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.

18-13:15    Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

18-14:10    But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

18-14:21    His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.

18-14:22    But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.

18-16:5     But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.

18-16:7     But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.

18-16:12    I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.

18-16:20    My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.

18-17:10    But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.

18-19:7     Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.

18-19:28    But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?

18-20:5     That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

18-20:13    Though he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:

18-21:1     But Job answered and said,

18-22:8     But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.

18-22:18    Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

18-22:20    Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.

18-23:6     Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me.

18-23:8     Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:

18-23:9     On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:

18-23:10    But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

18-23:13    But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

18-24:24    They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.

18-26:1     But Job answered and said,

18-26:14    Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

18-27:17    He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.

18-27:19    The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.

18-28:12    But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?

18-30:1     But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.

18-31:32    The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveller.

18-32:8     But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

18-32:16    When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)

18-35:10    But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

18-35:12    There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

18-35:15    But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:

18-36:6     He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.

18-36:7     He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

18-36:12    But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

18-36:13    But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.

18-36:17    But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.

18-37:21    And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.

18-38:11    And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

18-40:5     Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

18-42:5     I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.
